I have a little boy who's also almost 2 1/2 years old, and he wants NOTHING to do with going on the 'potty'!
The only advice I can give you, coming from a former Kindergarten teacher and someone who has degrees in Early Childhood Ed., is don't push anything if your child is not ready--it'll only set the child back and he/she will be more resistant to even trying. Put the potty out and explain what it's for and how to use it, and go from there. Use your insticts!
Good Luck.

My daughter is 2 and 1 /4 (28 mths).

It's been a long process of constantly bringing it up and getting her used to the idea......read books about the subject to them, have them watch DVD's about the potty and keeping asking if they want to try it......get a little potty for them if u haven't already.

We've had some little successess but nothing regular or consistent. I"m trying not to push her at all because I've read that that will make it worse.....they'll comply + do it in their own time.

My advice is wait till they show interest. My other piece of advice is she is ready just put her in underwear - I think pull ups are a waste of money. Maybe you could take her to buy some underwear with characters she likes and that will make her excited. I potty trained my daughter just putting her in underwear and when she had an accident she said she didn't like how it felt so I said "don't do it anymore then" But she was closer to 3.

Good luck!

can I ask what college you attend at night. I was looking into a real online college to attend and was wondering where and what you can tell me about yours. Thank you.

I am a mom of a 3 1/2 yr. old boy living in Hazlet and work part time in the city.

When your son is able to tell you if he went #1 or #2. To begin I recomend not doing pull ups unless you do the ones where they can feel wet. I did pull ups and I felt that it prolonged the potty training since he could "go" in his pants. As for the actual potty training...when I did it with my son, I was taking him into the bathroom every 15 minutes. Then after a week of this we then went every 30 minutes for about a week then I would ask him if he had to go...he just started going in on his own after awhile. This schedule mught need to be done for longer...my son was 4 when we did it. I plan to begin this with my daughter at the end of August...AFTER out Disney vaction. Good luck!!!

Added 7/1 - OOOOPPPPSSSS...I forgot to mention that I would reward my son with an M & M for going into the potty...he would get another if he sat....then a few if he went. ANd LOTS and LOTS of verbal praise. I know everone is different...some do a sticker or stamp...whatever works for you.
