My friends and relatives keep talking about this website either in person or on facebook. I feel like I am behind in the times cuz I have no idea what the purpose is or how it works. I've gone to the website but I just don't get it.
Edit: How do I go about finding recipes or craft ideas?

What can I do next?

I'm a total pinterest-head! Lol. It's wonderful for finding great recipes, home decor ideas, kids crafts, and holiday ideas. My sister (who HATES this type of stuff) just got on and can't get off! She loves it! The daycare kids and I had a great time over Christmas break doing all of the cute things on there and I've found tons of great rainy day ideas for them too.

I have not jumped on the pinterest bandwagon. simply because I spend enough time on facebook and last year had to cut myself off from Mamapedia because I was getting NOTHING done! I have gone to pinterest links that fb friends have posted and found some great recipes that way without spending so much time and learning yet another forum!

Okay, thank you. I was feeling really inept since I couldn't figure it out. Then again, I can't figure out how to tweet either. OMG, I'm turning into my parents!

Think of it as an on-line bulletin board. If you come across something on another website, such as a recipe, kid's craft idea, a cool outfit, etc. you can "pin" it to your board - basically copy and paste the web address to your board and then it is a "pinned" there so you can go back to it later. You can also view other people's "pins" and "repin" them to your board. It took me a while to get the hang of it but once I did, I've become a total addict. I really like it for getting ideas for recipes, fun things to do with kids, and cool things to do with food and home decor and DIY projects. But you can pin whatever you want! And you are not clipping out things out of magazines and newspapers and trying to save them somewhere!

I ADORE Pinterest. It basically creates an online filing system for the stuff you find and like. I will Pin recipies to my pinboard, and then pull it up there when I am out of ideas, rather than printing out a bunch of recipies I never use. I also used it to pin ideas for goody bags and cakes for both of my kids birthday parties, school ideas for my classes, and for Teacher Christmas gifts (among other things). You can't pin anything until you have an account, which you just ask for. It is free, and has replaced my "Favorites" tab on my computer. It organizes it all by categories you create (your pin boards), so that makes life for me easier than having one huge favorites tab.
You can find recipe or craft ideas by looking at what other people have pinned to those categories, or by finding things yourself and then "Pinning-it". I thought it sounded stupid myself, but now I love it. :)

I like it, But I do special events.
I gather ideas for flowers, holiday decorating, recipes.

And then I have interest in small homes and how to organize.

I love helpful hints.. there are lots on there. How to make homemade dish detergent, clothes detergent. etc. Once its pinned on your board. you will be able to go straight to it, when you need the info.

Pinterest is a place people share designs, ideas and fun stuff.

You can pin things you want to remember for future projects, crafts.

There are even School ideas for bulletin boards, handouts, etc..

I have even posted some of my own designs on there.

I noticed some of my friends are really into the fashions and so a lot of their pins are clothes.

I have also been collecting some of the funny sayings so I can cross stitch them as gifts.

I have so many friends who are into this, but I'm not! I don't have time to "pin" the stuff I find interesting -or even to look at all sorts of sites to find stuff. I come on this site and check FB and my email -that's about all I have time for unless I'm researching something!

Same here, I have no idea. My sisters are like you have to get on it, it's great. I don't understand it. I've gotten on it though to see what the big deal is but I can't make heads or tails out of it. Completely lost. I'm interested to see what everyone else says about it.

My neighbor loves it,,and everytime I comment on some cute craft, or neat idea she had for a party, or rave about her dinner, she says, "PINTEREST" and giggles. So, I have have been on Pinterest and finally am getting the hang of it. You just click on the picture of something and then click again and scroll down to find the recipe or directions. Just keep clicking on stuff. And if you like an item, you can click like, and pin, and it saves it for you, but I havent gone back to see what Ive saved yet. I figured out you can save them in different catagories and others will follow you even if you are hopelessly lost! It is fun, it has a lot of neat ideas, and recipes.

It's a place where you can "pin" things that interest you, recipes, ideas, etc. The Pinned items goes under your page. You can then follow other people, or just search for things. To me its like a hgtv at my fingertips :) Also when you see something online you can pin that item to your pintrest (I have not done this yet)

Don't feel badly. I have many 'following' me on pinterest and I have nothing on it for the same reason. It also seems a bit silly to me the way it looks after others 'pin' to it but that's what it is now if I can pin to it someday. :-) I'm a little afraid to try it because who knows what I'll actually get pinned there. I know I'm turning into my mother except she won't use a computer or cell phone. ;-(
