We just moved our toddler to his own toddler bed, which is fraught with all kinds of issues. But, the question I have for this website is about pillows. Does anyone know if a regular adult pillow is OK for a soon-to-be 3 year old? Thank you!

I bought the toddler pillows, but they are way too thick and put his head at an awkward angle. I tried sitting on them in my home-office chair, hoping to thin them out, but no luck, haha. He uses a regular pillow or his pillow pet. Good luck!

Mine started using a pillow when they transitioned to a toddler bed, both at 16 months, they were fine. Just make it a thin one so their head is not pushed up at a strange angel.

A toddler moves around and will not be smothered by a pillow. A regular adult sized pillow is OK. I'd use a flatter one rather than the large really fluffy one just because it would be more comfortable for a small body.

We use the "throw pillow" or "crib pillow" size for our 2 yo. Pottery Barn kids has it (I think they call it "accent" pillow and cute pillow cases.

An adult sized pillow is just fine for a 3 year old. My son has been a total daddy's boy and will only sleep with daddy's pillow every night in his crib--he's 21 months. It's actually nice because they don't move around as much as little pillows and tend to stay put better

I would say it all depends on how your child sleeps. Does he toss and turn a lot and pull things over his head? I have a adult size pillow in the crib with my 1 &1/2 yr old because it stays put and she likes to lay on it. If she messed with it or moved too much I would pull it out!

It's probably just fine. My 2 1/2 yr old has a pillow - it's about the size of an adult pillow cut in HALF. So if you have a sewing machine, cut one in half, perhaps take out some of the stuffing, then sew it back up on that one side.

I bought a "travel" size pillow for my son at Bed Bath & Beyond. It fits so much better than a large standard adult pillow. Only had boring white pillowcases, but my MIL sewed him some superhero ones. He loves it!

I think an adult sized pillow is just fine. My son personally will start out on his pillow and by the end of the night he's in the middle of his bed! They do have some toddler sized pillows at Babies R Us. My son has the memory foam one. It was around $20. Has a removable/washable case.

My 2 year old has been sleeping with an adult sized pillow since he was about 18 months old. I had the approval from his pediatrician to do so.

There is a website called comfycozy.com that has toddler pillows. They also have glow in the dark pillowcases.

an adult pillow is just fine for a 3 year old. All three of my kids were using adult pillows as soon as they moved out of the crib.

When my kids changed from crib to twin bed, I added a pillow at the same time. They were even younger than your child. I think it's fine. Just thought I'd mention..... My daughter is in love with pillow pets. Evidently someone brought one to the summer care program she was in and now she really wants one. I checked them out online and they are pretty stinkin cute! Maybe you could get one for your child. If he is having some issues switching from his crib, maybe you could tell him it's super special and only big boys in beds get to have a super cool pillow pet! It's worth a shot! They are adorable and come in a billion different animals, so I'm sure his favorite is bound to be available. =0) Check them out...........www.mypillowpets.com. Also, if you live near a Walgreens, it looks like they have them right now for $19.99. I'm gonna get one for each of my kids and save them for Christmas.
