My 18 month old has a rash on her chin and around her lips. It is not severe, it just won't seem to go away. She has had it for a few weeks now. I'm still waiting on a response from her pediatrician's nurse as they are out of the office for a few days. I think it may be starting to irritate her more and I hate to wait any longer. Any thoughts???

What can I do next?

if she does a pacifier - it could be that...

I used Mary Kay Night Time Emoillient cream on my boys - as well as myself...it is WONDERFUL on sunburns and rashes...

Something she is eating.
Teething
Pacifier
Acidic foods/citrus/mango can cause a rash around the mouth.
After eating acidic fruits/mangoes etc., you have to rinse their mouth/wipe it.

sounds like classic pacifier rash. I suggest you gently wipe it dry whenever you can and limit the paci to bedtime/naptime.

My 3 yr old has had a red rash around his mouth on and off for the past couple of months. He had just stopped using his pacifier and it was the end of winter. I started putting Aquaphor on it at bed time. At his 3 yr old check up, the doctor told me to use Eucerin on the rash when he slept. This cream is thicker and sinks into the skin better than Aquaphor. After the first week or so, I noticed the rash was much better and now I only need it after a major crying/drooling jag. We'll see how he does this winter.

Good luck with it,

We had little twin neighbors that would get this from their own saliva, especially when teething and learning to drink from sippy cups..

Their mom kept bandanas around their necks so she could wipe the saliva off.

They grew out of it..
