Hi Moms,

Has anyone ever visited a cosmetic tattoo artist to have permanent makeup enhancement for either eyeliner or eyebrows? What has been your experience? And, please recommend somoene in Charlotte, NC and also the Maryland/Washington, DC areas.

Thanks,
P.

I had my eyeliner and lips done.

I never wear make up - even eye shadow, because I don't need to! My person is in Illinois so I can't recommend someone close to you.

My biggest fear was that she would accidently tattoo my eye - and when I challenged her on it she said 'try to open your eye'. The way she was holding it made it impossible.

It's not painless. Mine did a pass over and made a lot of holes and then put a topical anesthetic on it. I've actually had it done twice - the first time I was timid and had it done very lightly. The second time I had it done thicker, and in a bolder color. If I ever really wanted to get rid of it, she could do skin tone make up over the tattoo. In fact, my person covers scars with skin tone tattoos and makes fake aereola's for breast cancer survivors.

I have yet to see a really realistic set of eyebrows, however. Ask to see samples of her work (she should have pictures) and also you can ask for references.

I love mine and probably will have it done again! hth!

I have a very good friend that had the eyeliner done.. She really needed it, she was so far sighted she could not put on eyeliner any longer, she also has her eye lashes dyed every 4 to 6 weeks..

She is here in Austin, But I think she had it done at a laser place.. I will ask..

Actually, if done the "right" way (ie - not some back alley, cheap job), it's not permanent per se. Makeup tattooing actually fades over time and does need to be touched up.

I had eyeliner and my eyebrows done about 2 years ago. It's finally to the point where I need to set up another appointment to have it touched up and darkened again. I LOVED IT!!! It was so great not to have to worry about doing eyeliner every morning and especially messing up my makeup after swimming. My permanent makeup was never so heavy that it looked "out of place" by itself. There were many days where I didn't have to put any other makeup on, but still looked all put together.

My cousin did, and boy does she regret it! She looks odd if she does not due full makeup, now, and she can not play with the color of her eyeliner. She really wishes she had never had it done.

Please make sure they do not use dyes with magnetic properties.
I needed several medical tests that would not have been possible had I gotten the makeup like I planned.

hello
haven't had it done but have seen many women who have..... some look ok.. others look fake... keep in mind.. it's permanent.. unless covering up a scar or something to that effect, think if this is really what you want. I used to work with a girl who was in her 20s and she had perm eyeliner on her top lids and well, it looked ok.. but you could tell it was fake not to mention, it was THICK , it kinda looked like something from the 60s........ which wouldn't be so bad. but what if you get tired of that look... also, like tattoos some look good now at this age but later on........... what was UP is now down....... just food for thought
