Hello C. M,
I recommend Dr. Kenneth Kumasaka at the Swedish Clinic for Children on California. The number is ###-###-####. He is a very personable and straightforward doctor. He has a great rapport with kids.

Hi C.,
The best one in West Seattle is considered Dr.Kumasaka from the Swedish Clinic but he is not taking new babies. The next best one there is Dr.Franklin. This is how far my pregnancy researches got me and I'm really happy with Dr.Franklin. I saw quite few of the others but not really crazy about them. Now if I can't see Dr.Franklin I'm asking for Dr.Kumasaka, this guy is really good. He is a third generation doctor and you can tell that he "knows" what he is doing. The one to avoid there is the old blond nurse, she is a little bit rough when she has to do a vaccine on a tiny leg. Hope that will help.

Hi C.!

I've lived in West Seattle for 12 yrs and have had the same Pediatrician the entire time. First for my son who is now 17yrs old and my 8yr old daughter. His name is Dr. Michael Kovar and he is at the Swedish Physicians Medical Clinic on California Ave. The number is ###-###-####. He is a wonderful Dr...so liked that he has quite alot of patients booked. So, you should look into it!

Good Luck!
V.

Hi C., this might not be helpful but at Highline Hospital(which is in Burien) they have some great pediatric doctors. Dr. Mark Greenfield at Seahurst Pediatrics, is really honest and has been there for a long time. My daughter (2 yrs) has seen him since she was born. He came to the hospital to check her out and I've always felt comfortable with him and my husband likes him also. I feel he really looks out for his "kids". You can always go in for an interview, that's what we did before I had my daughter. You will be able to get a better idea of him when your able to talk with him without distracting kids. Hope this is helpful! Good luck!

Hi C. -

My daughter takes my grandson to Terrance Harrington. He is located at 3623 SW Alaska. He is a general doctor but he is very good and fantastic with children. My grandson is 2 and has no problem whatsoever going to see Dr. Harrington. I hope you check him out, and best of luck.

Sounds like Swedish Childrens is the unanimous choice. That is where we go. We see Dr. Benci Franklin and like him very much. I was refered to him by a friend who has also had a great experience. Of course, Dr. Kumasaka is hands down the best, but like another responder said, he isn't taking new patients. HOWEVER, I have heard of parents who have "talked him into" taking them on because apparently he is a softy. Also I think he'll take babies if there are special circumstances or if there is a specific referal from another physician. Ask your OB or midwife if he/she knows him. Finally, avoid Dr. Scholten - I just didn't get a good vibe or any warm fuzzies you'd expect from a pediatrician.

Good luck with your search!

I would try and get into Dr. Hott at ###-###-####. She is good. The on call nurse Christy is great.

I agree with Lisa W below...Swedish Childrens Clinic is great! I have seen every doctor there at one point and have had good visits with each of them. The clinic staff are also kind and the lobby is kid friendly! I mostly see Dr. Sholten or Dr. Hott.

Hi C.,

Swedish on California is where I go. It is great, the people are very nice and they don't make you wait very long once you get there. They are very busy and you need to make appointments 2-3 months in advance (for well checks) I have tried every doctor there because like you I had no idea who to see. Last year my son was very sick and NO doctor, but one knew what was wrong. Dr. Kumasaka was the only one that knew what was wrong. He admitted him to the hospital when he finally saw him. Mind you I was there the day before seeing Dr. Franklin. To this day I will not have my kids be seen by doctor Franklin, even if he is the only doctor. Dr. Kumasaka I believe is not taking on new babies, but maybe he has a waiting list or something. It would be worth checking out. He is AWESOME! I also saw doctor's; Susan Altemeir (very nice), Sue Hott (which my friend see's and she loves her, but I guess she only works part time), Dr. Scott (also good) & Roger Scholten (did not care for) It is so hard to find a good doctor that fits. Beg and plead to get on with Dr. Kumasaka...bring gifts haha
