Pediatrician in the Oviedo or East Orlando (UCF) Area

My son has been going to Physician Associates since birth and he is now 2 1/2. He sees Dr. Aker and Dr. Raj (they share an office) they are both great and they are mothers themselves. The entire office is wonderful to us, with unexpected visits they fit us in right away. It is located right off of University Blvd. down from UCF.

So sorry to hear you're having trouble with Interlachen. We send our son there to Dr. Middleton, and I gotta say, he is probably the best doctor there. Which doc did you see? When we took our boy in at 2 weeks, they also said that he wouldn't need his next appt til he was 2 months old. This is standard practice across the board, though - many dr.'s offices have that policy. Of course, if something went wrong, they were always very quick to see him and schedule him in within the same hour if it was an emergency, and definitely during the day. I have also heard that Dr.s Novak and Holsen are v. good. Although I think Holsen is more at the Maitland office. Nurse practicioners Terry Perrault and S. Schaffer are also v. good.

This is probably not as close as you are looking for but I have all three of my sons go to Pediatric Associates on Mills Ave. It's not far off of 408 so it makes the trip a 15 min drive from where I live off of University Blvd. We have mostly seen Dr. Britton but he is very busy because he is wonderful. He has a great disposition with children and is a father of young children as well. He is wonderful with the parents and is willing to sit and talk about even the stupid questions for as long as you need him. There are about 12 doctors in the office (male and female)and I've seen several and have no complaints about any one of them. They even charted their possible adult height at their 2 yr check-up. The greatest thing about this office is that they always have a doctor in the office 7 days a week. My kids always seem to get sick on Friday afternoons or evening so it's great to know if it is bad I can bring them in even on Sat. and Sun. at no extra cost. I just took my 3 mo old in last Sunday with an ear infection. They are very good about getting sick children in right away! They also have a waiting area for sick children that is seperate from well children that I think is great. With your 3 week old they will have you wait in the back instead of the waiting area so that they are far away from other children in the waiting areas until they are givin their first shots. My daughter goes to TLC Pediatrics (they are located off of Alafaya Trail-in a plaza right before you get to the corner of Alafaya and SR 50...the office is kind of hidden since you have to turn into the plaza before you get to that big Ramada Hotel and the office is in the back of the plaza). It is Dr. Lacy and Dr. Elias, and I absolutely love them! My friend recommended them to me. I have never had a problem getting into the office for anything (they don't seem to be packed like alot of the other pediatricians), I've never waited more then 10 minutes in the waiting room to see the dr's either! But, they are both so nice, and I would highly recommend them. Hope that helps! Good luck!

S. - Try Dr. Joseph Savona - his office is off Red Bug Lake Rd. right near the Oviedo Mall. He has practiced pediatrics for decades (in fact he was the pediatrician of one of my friends when she was a child and now she takes her children to see him). My son was born this past June and we had originally started with a different doctor, closer to our home. We had a terrible experience and so took the recommendation of several of our friends and switched to Dr. Savona, even though he is about a 20-minute drive from our home.

His nurses and staff are warm and experienced and he has been patient and thorough in all of his exams and discussions with us. You can schedule a new-patient interview with him ahead of time (this is usually scheduled on Saturday mornings), and then make your decision afterwards w/o having to actually switch first. His office is open on Saturday mornings for emergencies and he also makes hospital calls for all new babies, etc.

My husband and I have had to call his night-time service once due to what we thought was an emergency with our son. His service actually forwarded us to his home phone (it was 3:30am!) and he answered our questions and put us at ease all the while being very patient.

My children's pediatrian is Dr Q Pediatrics located on Alafaya Trail, they are wonderful. I can't say that I have had any problems with them. My second daughter, is the type of child that eats certain foods or you wash her clothes or body in a certain soap and she reacts with hives. I must second the recommendation of TLC Pediatrics (or I guess I'm actually the third person recommending this practice) Dr. Lacy and Dr. Elias are absolutely fantastic!! Plus, they also have a informative child health website! I love them!
