Hi, i'm considering changing my 2 kids pediatrician... I always wait for at least 1 hour before seeing the doctor (20-30 min in the waiting room and another 20-30min in the exam room), if i ask him a question that is not related to the visit i get ignored, if i have a question or the kid is sick and i need to contact the doctor after hours/weekend, it is impossible to reach the doctor, they charge you $$15 if you spoke with the answering service and you end up speaking to a nurse and not your doctor.
Thanks

I take my son to Pediatric Associates. They have two offices, one on Mills Ave and one in Dr. Phillips. My husband and I love it. We usually see Dr. Gordon but we have seen several other doctors and have liked all of them. They are even open on the weekends and holidays. We have never had to wait long in the waiting area or the exam room. They have done a great job getting us in at last minute as well. I have recommended this office to all of my friends who recently had babies, everyone has been pleased.

I go to Interlachen Pediatrics and have since my 7yo was prematurely born. It IS a large practice and there are certain doctors there that I prefer over others. They have a walk in sick hour every weekday morning from 8-9am so we don't need an appointment. We go to their Oviedo location-I've never had a problem with waiting a long time in the waiting room and then the exam room and they never have had a problem with answering questions that are not related to the visit. As a matter of fact, one of my friends took her son there after he fell down and hurt himself and while she was there asked the nurse practicioner if they could take a look at her daughter's vision (who didn't even have an appt.) and there were happy to do so...good thing they did b/c the little girl was sent for an MRI and it turned out she had a brain tumor. They also have hours on the weekend-although they are not walk in, they do require an appt. Another thing I like is that you can email them with questions during their hours and they will get back to you right away. I've started scheduling the well child appointments via email...it's just easier.

I have a feeling that you already go to Interlachen though, because I know that 5 years ago they started charging for after hour calls. From working in the medical field I know some of their doctors personally and they were almost forced to start doing this, because parents were calling the service for things like a splinter or a runny nose.
Like I said, some of the doctors there are easier to relate to than others, but I think it is the best group of doctors in town.

Hi N., I have a wonderful pediatrician! I moved to the Avalon Area about a year and a half ago and I still make the drive to Winter Park to see him. His name is Dr. Eugenio Vano. I never wait more than 15 min to see him. We only see him there's no PA or Nurse practioner. We see him everytime. In the almost 12 years I've going to him we've seen replacement dr. twice. Because he was on a well deserved vacation. When I have questions he answers all of them and when I need an appointment ASAP they alway get us in. No charge to call the answering service a lot of times he'll call you back. One experience I'll never forget my family was on vacation in Key West. I called Dr. Vano's service late in the evening, he called me back within an hour I told him what was going on with my son and called in the Rx to nearest phamacy for me. Saved our vacation. We love him!

Dear N.,

I live in East Orlando, however I go to a pediatrician in Altamonte - Pediatrics Care of Care of Altamonte (Dr. Neal Silverstein). They are wonderful. We never wait long for appointments, they are sweet and caring, and always get you an appointment that day if the kids are sick.

There is the doctor and a female nurse practictioner who is also excellent. It's a little bit of a drive but I won't switch! Here's their info:

661 E. Altamonte Dr.
Suite 217
Altamonte Springs, Florida 32701
###-###-####

Good luck!

Hi N.,

I see a Dr. Andrew Summers in the Baldwin Park area. I dont know if that is convenient to you. He use to be inthe metrowest area near where I live then moved to dwn twn. Although not convenient for me I still go there because I have never had to wait more then 20-25 minutes (all together) and that is very important to me as well.

The Dr. is wonderful! The staff is very friendly and easy to deal with. I can always get in at the last moment if I need to. It is just the one Dr. and a female PA which my girls sometimes see also and who is really good. I think they are worth checking out!!

Her name is Dr. Lisa Ramey, she is awesome - her staff is awesome - and her wait time is reasonable. She is highly trained and held a lead position in the Fl. Hospital system at East Orlando Hospital. She is about preventative medicine as well...learn to swim, don't risk drowning. Her nurse, Lamare, ROCKS!!!
She is the ONLY one in her office, so you don't have to wonder which Doc you will be seeing that day - I detest those practices.
She is just off the 417 in Oveido.

I don't know where you go now, but I take my daughter to TLC pediatrics. Dr. Lacy is great with her. It is on Alafaya near Colonial. I drive from Winter Park to see him. I feel he is worth it. We have been with him since my daughter was born. Hope this helps!

I also see Dr. Thomas Lacy at TLC Pediatrics and love his practice. They have walk-in acute care every morning from 7:30-9:00. They have very short wait times in the the waiting area, but longer wait times in the room (but still no where near what you have been waiting) Dr. Lacy is very nice and will answer any question. He used to work for Interlachen too, but left so he can give more personal care to his patients. There is only one other doctor that practices with him and she's nice too. I've had to see Dr. Elias a couple times when Dr. Lacy was not available. Their office is on Orpington, near the corner of Alafaya and Colonial.

Pediatric Associates of Orlando. They have a couple of locations. One on Bumby and the other in Dr. Phillips. I have one main Dr. for my duaghter but have seen at least 5 different ones and they are all wonderful. I've never waiting more than 10 minutes in the lobby and I've had to take my daughter to them about 3 times not scheduled; once on a sunday and two other times during the week. All three times they got me in w/in an hour of calling w/ no extra charge. The only problem I had was the first 3 times I scheduled appointments when she was first born - the appt. desk messed up my appts. I couldn't understand it and spoke to the manager about it and haven't had a problem since.
