My daughter is 2 years 9 mo. and has not yet been to a dentist. She went with me to my last cleaning to familiarize her with the concept. My question is this, is she too young to see a dentist yet, or at what age do they start? And can anyone reccomend a good children's dentise in the Vacaville area. Although I love my dentist and he does see children, I feel like one that specializes in children may be a better fit. Thanks for the help.

My daughter just turned 3 and we also see Dr. Nutter in Fairfield. Dr. Garcia is also there as well as another dentist. They only see children and my daughter loves to go there. we actually had an appointment Monday. They just count their teeth, look for any problems with spacing, etc. in the early appointments. starting at age 3, they polish their teeth, but only if the child will allow htem to. my daughter did not want to, so they did not force the issue at all. they are really great!

Dr. Nutter is great, and all the dentists in his office (I think Garcia is one). It's in Fairfield, but it's the closest exit to Vacaville, so it's not too far out of the way. The office is very child-oriented (movies and games in the waiting room) and the dental assistants are very good with the kids.

Dr. Garcia at the Rolling Hills Professional Building in Fairfield. It's just off the North Texas Exit, coming from Vacaville. We LOVE her!! So many people have a profound fear of dentists, which can start from a young age. They make it a wonderful experience!! My daughter started going when she was 2 1/2 and LOVES the dentist... she is actually excited to go there. Dr. Garcia is our specific dentist, but I hear the others in the practice are great as well. Good luck and make it a happy time!

Your daughter is definitely old enough to start visiting the dentist office. Even if she isn't ready for the full exam most dentist will get her in the chair and talk to her and show her all of the tools. I have been taking my children to Dr. Gerber at Rolling Hills Pediatric. Any of the other dentists in there are great as well. The are on Hilborn Road close to 80 & N Texas. ###-###-####.
Hope this helps!!

Hi there- I started taking my daughter in with me when I had my cleanings so she could see what happened. Then when she was about 3 1/2, she had her first mock appt where the hygienist "counted" her teeth. This got her familiar with having her mouth looked at. The hygienist let her touch some of the instruments, particularly the polisher, which tickled her hand. =) At around 4 years, she had her first cleaning, but still with the hygienist. By this time she was comfortable with going to the dentist. I hear that now she's 5, she will see the dentist next time. Our dentist is Dr. Hunter/Dr. Tricerri in Vacaville (on Alamo Dr). Although they don't specialize in children, I do feel as if they are great with kids. Sharon is our favorite hygienist. You can ask for her when you make your appointment. Good luck to you!
