I haven't heard anything from news if peanut butter is safe to eat now or not. I wasn't sure, but my husband went ahead bought a jar of peanut butter to make PBJ sandwich. Do you know if peanut butter is safe to eat now? Please let me know! Thanks.

The p-butter is jars was not the issue. It was actually the p-butter "paste" that they use in crackers, cookies, etc. And that is all safe now as well.

Jif has always been safe because they don't get their peanuts from that factory that caused the problems. When in doubt, check the manufacturer's website or the FDA site.

It was my understanding that even when the peanut butter scare was going on the problem was with product MADE WITH Peanut butter, not jars of peanut butter. Plus, by now any product that was involved in the recall should be off the shelves. My family has been eating jars of Jiff PB for months now and we are all fine.

I never stopped eating peanut butter. I don't tend to get all freaked out when the media does. We were eating JIF anyways so I never worried. My son lives of PBJ so I HAVE to have it in the house.

It wasn't all peanut butter that was unsafe. Peter Pan was safe in the last go round. If it hadn't been cleared the stores would have it still pulled from the shelves in most areas. You can check on this through the FFDA online.

Peanut butter was always safe to eat! It was just a few brands and peanut butter products (like crackers) that came from that one manufacturing plant. All the other peanut butter brands were completely safe and unaffected.

S.,

If you are concerned about peanut butter, you should more carefully read the labels of the type you buy. All these answers to you were touting Jiff, but if you read the ingredients, it is FULL of preservatives, salt and added FAT/OIL. None of these things is good for the body. Spend the extra bit of money and buy the natural kind that is made of: PEANUTS and nothing else. Yeah, you have to store it in the fridge, and stir it before you can use it, but it is MUCH healthier for you and your family.

Best wishes,
K.

Peanut butter in jars has always been safe. The peanut butter that had issues was used in products like cookies, crackers, etc. I recommend that you buy JIF - they never used peanuts from that supplier.

It's fine to eat peanut butter. If it's not safe, stores will pull it off the shelves.

As far as I understand, if it's on the shelves at this point, it's fine. I also know that it was a company that made a peanut spread that was used in other things, not so much jars of peanut butter. In any case, I buy natural peanut or almond butter that gets made in front of you by the big machine, it wasn't the nuts that were the problem, so I felt safe doing this all along:)
