I am planning my daughters 2nd birthday that is at the beginning of Jan. I live in Casselberry and there are a couple of parks that are nice. I am trying to find a really nice one with lots of play equipment and a pavillion. I would like to try to find something around either Winter Park, Lake Mary Oviedo or even going toward Orlando. Any suggestions.

What can I do next?

Hi J.,

I would recommend Maitland Community Park for your daughter's birthday party. It is set back off the road, there is plenty of parking, the playground equipment is new, and there are pavilions. http://gocitykids.parentsconnect.com/attraction/maitland-...

Happy party planning!

Hello J.,

We have had my daughter's birthday several times along with a couple family reunions at Lake Mills Park off of 419. Here is their website:http://www.seminolecountyfl.gov/guide/parks/park7.asp; we have even camped out there ~ which was very nice and very quite. Good Luck..

Capehart Park is Orlando's best kept secret. It has a fenced in water splash pad area that's on in season, but even though it will be off in January, the park is still awesome. It has 2 play areas (one for older kids and one for younger ones) that are close enough to eachother that you can watch the big kids while staying close to the little ones. The play areas are covered and the ground has that squishy stuff. There is one pavillion that you can reserve, but it's over priced and books up months in advance, but there are also several picnic tables around-- some of them are covered. I had my son's 1st birthday there--- we used a picnic table for presents and food, which is seriously all you need anyway because it's not like anyone really sits for long on a playground anyway. We had tons and tons of kids and families and the park was perfect-- Mr Richard even came!

If you're in Casselberry, then you may already know about Eastmonte Park. It's mostly Little League fields, but there is a nice playground, several pavilions, and plenty of room to run. I've seen inflatable bouncers put up for parties there, too!

Eastmonte Park is between Maitland and Ronald Reagan, just south of 436-- not too hard to find, I hope. There are signs posted, as well.

I think you have to call to reserve the pavilions, but I imagine you're planning far enough in advance to get on that list. :)

Best of luck-- I hope it's a blast!
