Painful Yeast Infection

I am 99% sure that I have a yeast infection, not my first, but this one is SUPER painful. I started some of the OTC medication, but I'm not sure I'm going to be able to sleep I'm so uncomfortable. Does anyone have any ideas for immediate relief (I'm sitting with ice right now, but that won't work all night long!). Thanks for any help you can give.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I did go see the doc today who confirmed that it's just a really bad yeast infection. I got a script for diflucan and tried the azo pills, which, although they gave me a terrible upset stomach, have helped with the pain quite a bit. Here's hoping I'm back to normal in just a couple days! thanks again!

Go to dr tmrw! Could be bacterial vaginosis and or yeast too. You will need antibiotic flagyl to clear it if it is. I get this type of infection when I'm run down/ stressed, eating too much sugar or in a swimsuit/hot tub, or took an antibiotic for sinus infection. They suck! I don't self treat anymore bc I never know if it's yeast or bacteria. I've had both before which sucks even more. Totally done the ice thing before. Hope u get some rest and get in to dr tmrw!

That sounds like more than a yeast infection- go see your doctor.

I used to use tampons lightly "greased" up with tea tree oil.
Helps with bacteria.

Good luck.

yogurt - plain. Inside the vagina. If you have an applicator for any meds, use that, then lie down. Use a pad for the "drip". Ibuprofen for the swelling & pain. Go see the doctor - it could be, and probably is, more than yeast.

Oh you poor thing! I feel for you! The only thing OTC that would work for me with any type of relief was the Vagisil cream. I would also get some Azo tablets and lots and lots of yogurt. Drink a ton of water, absolutely no soda, juice, sugar, bread, etc...Yeast thrive on sugar and you don't want them doing that. Feel better!

Hope you feel better already. Sounds like it could be herpes genitalis -- sometimes gets confused with yeast infection. have a Dr check it. get well soon!

I recommend yogurt as well, but make sure it is 'PLAIN' yogurt. I stopped prescription drugs years ago to use what was natural and I could purchase anytime I had the need. Always scoop with a clean spoon so you don't contaminate the container. If you have a plunger that came with a prescription, load it up and you have a natural solution.

Also if you can find Acidophilus Tablets (ask your pharmacist), keep some in your fridge. This helps to keep the normal flora bacteria in your system.

I second the yogurt advice... straight out of the fridge.

I also recommend the yogurt, and go see your doctor just in case.

Another possible explanation -- For a while I thought I was getting recurring very painful yeast infections, because that's what if felt like. Turned out that I was having a painful reaction to latex condoms. It completely disappeared after switching to non-latex ones, and never came back, except for the one time we tried a latex one just to test my theory, and the reaction was immediate. The weird thing is, any other latex in my life is absolutely fine -- no reaction. Only with the condoms.
