Hey ladies. I am in my mid 5 month...and lately in the morning I wake up and am barely able to get to to the bathroom without being in horrible pain. I feel so bloated my whole belly just aches, and I can barely straighten my back. I have found no connection with the foods I eat and the bloating, it seems to happen no matter what and only in the morning. If I am able to relieve some gas I feel better but sometimes I can't even do that. This morning I have been hurting for two hours already with no relief...I tried getting up and walking around the house, rubbing my belly, etc. Is this normal? Have any of you other moms ever had this problem ?

What can I do next?

Take all grain out of your diet for a week, and see if that isn't the problem.
Best, k

I know it's not cheap, but I swear by accupuncture. I got it along with some herbs and dietary guidlines from my doctor of oriental medicine. It is the oldest form of medicine, the most natural approach. Body and mind. The two are directly linked.
And water, more than you think you can handel. I also added chlorophyl to my water alot it can settle things down, and is a good blood oxygenator. Good luck

Hi S.,

You should not be bloated if you are getting all the nutrition you need for the baby AND you. Ask your doctor what the delivery system is for the prenatal vitamins that you are on. If he doesn't know or can't tell you or if he just says they digest in your stomach, then you need to get a different one! I can recommend one if you like.

Another thing is water, water, water.....good purified water. Water flushes toxins and that will alleviate most bloating.

I would also suggest chiropractic care. If something is out of kilter, then it can cause all sorts of damage or problems. Make sure you go to one that understands the immune system. If you ask them how chiropractic helps build the immune system and they don't know, then you are at the wrong place. If you don't have one, go to upspine.com and find one in your area.

I was adjusted all through my pregnancy and my little one went straight from the hospital to my chiropractors office. The spine, the digestive tract and good dental hygiene are the main things that make or break our health.

Hope you feel better soon!

M.

I had that start around my 5th month also (Mid december) with my 4th pregnancy...
Where is it bloated? Is it a general feeling or is it discomfort along the top of your belly (where you KNOW baby is not) Is it mainly on one side or just in the front? Does it include back pain near your shoulder blades?

I thought mine was gas for 8 weeks ... I put up with the pain... It would hit me anytime day or night, last an hour or so then fade for a week or so. Until a few weekends ago when the pain did not go away for 3 days. I'm talking pain that is WORSE than any labor... (It does not fade like a contraction.) I went to the dr and was admitted to the hospital with pancreatitus for 4 days... Then last friday had to go back because of pain again... This time they found Gall stones. I do not want to freak you out or worry you... It can be just a build up of gas... But no matter what talk to your dr about it!

Try getting in a bath tub with as hot of water as you can stand... That may help relax you to help it move... Heating pads... Gas ex may help...

If it is gall stones they could be blocking the ducts as you lay down... There really is not much they can do because your guts are all squished up right now... But if you are in pain talk to your dr... Look into what YOUR symptoms are and if it makes sense to you ask the dr to do the testing to figure it out. Trust me... Pay attention to your body... It took me over 2 weeks to just recover from the soreness of the constant pain attacks I was having. You will get run down without realizing it. There are pain meds that can help manage the attacks when you do have them if it is something worse than gas...

Try the gas ex first... Maybe even use beano before meals just in case...

Good luck and the days are counting down. :-)

Water, water, water...and are you having constipation issues? Stool softeners are part of my daily routine (I'm 29 weeks)

I would recommend calling your OB/GYN and asking to speak with a nurse about it.

We can all speculate about what might be causing it, but if it's painful enough that you can't relieve the pain and you can't stand-up, there may be something more serious that only a physician can diagnose and properly treat.

For me personally, I wanted to bring a healthy child into the world so badly, I called whenever there was something that didn't seem quite right. I was lucky to have 2 healthy kids, and my instincts proved themselves to me time and again from my water breaking to fearing I had cancer.

If your instincts are that something is wrong, a call is quick and doesn't cost anything.

Good luck! Enjoy that baby!

Drink water- but for me that was not enough... I drink 10-12 glasses a day. When I was pregnant my OB had me take stool softeners regularly (not laxatives). Ask yours!

Also ask about GasX & the safety during pregnancy. I did not take it while pregnant but my X used to swear by it.
