Pain in the Back

I had a little boy 5 months ago. Ever since about the 3rd trimester I have had a lot of back pain. I expected that while I was pregnant because of all the weight in my belly, but it's been 5 months now. If I hold him for just 10 minutes, I feel like my back is literally going to snap. When I do anything that requires me to lean over like over the crib or changing table, it is pure misery. My question is.. Is this normal? Is it just another one of those things that just takes awhile to get back to normal?

What can I do next?

I had this happen to me around November... just out of the blue. It ended up being that I was dehydrated. I started drinking a ton of water, and it went away. Maybe give that a shot before going to the doctor?

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

I have three children. While I was pregnant with the last my husband supprised me with a very expensive back massage. They rubbed it wrong. Anyway my point is a friend had me go to her chiropractor. They take my insurance and for my copay of $20 the give me an hour long BACK MASSAGE and adjust my back!!! So now I only pay $20 for a massage instead of the $160 the hotl chraged me!! Email me if you want to to look up his name. He is located in Frisco at Warren between toll and preston. I think it was Loughhard??

very normal. having a baby is very h*** o* your body. I would suggest a chiropractor, but if you can't afford, at least do the back excercises and streches that promote healing. you probably have a pinched nerve, so make sure you take it extra easy.

Sounds like you definitely need to see a chiropractor. I have an awesome female chiropractor who esp. works with pregnant women and post birth moms. Carrying that much extra weight can pull everything out of wack. It can also make you extremely tired. Which is why I finally broke down and went (on top of me lugging around a fiesty 2 yr old boy). It's helped me so much. If you would like her contact info, please mail me directly. (She's who the other chiropractors go to be adjusted). Most chiropractors are covered under insurance (usually after a deductible).
You should not have to live with so much pain!

Just be very careful. My friend's daughter broke her back while pg and they did not know it. She gained a lot during pregnacy. She ended up having to have that surgery where they remove part of her intestine and she almost died. It was that or back surgery and then she would have to learn how to walk all over again and their was a chance she could not walk. So to lose the weight was her choice and she is beautiful and cute figure but a lot more surgery to remove all that flab. I pray this is not your case.

R.,
I am not a doctor, but I know what it's like to have some back pain...my son wieghed 8lbs 11 oz at birth and my daughter 10lbs 4 oz. The case may be that you are having problems with your sciatic nerve in your back. Does it hurt to get up if you lie down on your back even for a short time? Well mine did and does. Back pain s rough...but I have found good exercise really helps...and also warm baths help SO MUCH. Not to mention sleeping positions, when sleeping the best position is on the side with a pillow supporting the neck well and the knees slightly bent. Remember to try to keep your spine stright when sleeping. You could have a slipped disk though too. Kind of hard to say. my son is now 5 years old and i still have the same type of back pain from his birth! Oh by the way did you have an epidural, this can also be a side effect of it. REMEMBER EXERCISE EXERCISE EXERCISE!HTH

I agree with the other people who suggested going to see a chiropractor. Carrying all the extra weight really throws your body out of balance. I am pregnant with my second and cannot imagine how I would feel if I didn't get adjusted. My husband is a chiropractor in Snider Plaza in Dallas. His number is ###-###-####, Trinity Family Chiropractic.
