One of the teachers at my daughters daycare always makes a point of giving her a hug and saying I love you when we are leaving. I have not witnessed her doing this with any of the other children and it appears that my daughter is getting special attention (sitting in the teachers lap during story time). Should I be grateful that the teacher is forming such a bond with my daughter or is she overstepping the boundaries? Honestly I feel a little creeped out but think I may be overreacting, please provide me with some of your experience/insights ladies. My daughter is nearly 3 and has been attending daycare for a little over 3 months.

I was preparing to talk to the director as suggested but the 'I love you's' stopped. I don't know if another parent had said something or if the director had witnessed it (or if they read Mamasource) but it has stopped which I am glad about as I really like this teacher and did not want to feel uncomfortable around her. Thx for your input ladies.
I would be appalled if someone did that to my kid. I would talk to the person and or director... thats not right in my opinion.
(sounds harsh when I type it and I tell my kids I love them a million times a day but I find it innappropriate coming from a care giver)
I wouldn't think it was strange but when you said she only does that with your daughter. That kind of freaked me out also. Not sure how old your daughter is but if she can talk I would ask her what else she does with the teacher
Are you sure she only acts this way towards your daughter? If that is really the case, I would definitely talk to the center director or lead teacher about this. Good luck!
This teacher needs to be giving attention to all the kids not just your daughter.If you feel uncomfortable with the situation you need to talk to someone at the daycare center.It doesnt seem right to me that she only pays attention to your daughter.
