Nursing Covers - El Paso,TX

I have a 2 yr old daughter and am pregnant with my second. I nursed my daughter and plan to nurse this next baby. However, since I have a toddler who loves to do/see things, I'm looking for a quality nursing cover that has as much total coverage (front, sides, back) as possible. Any brand recommendations?

More info: I didn't mean for it to sound like I wanted it for use at home. I meant it to be for use at zoos/parks, and things of that nature. Not worried about my 2 year old regarding the nursing. I just meant I didn't want to interrupt an outing that I planned for her for me to nurse the baby.

What can I do next?

It is wonderful that you're nursing. I'm puzzled as to who you're covering up for. There will be absolutely no reason to hide nursing from your toddler, which is what your post sounds like. Nursing is a natural, beautiful part of life, and she should not be taught to believe it is shameful or secret. Certainly modesty in public is what you want, but in your family it shouldn't be. She will be curious, and you should have answers ready for her when she asks. "This is how the baby eats, and this is how you got your milk when you were a baby." Don't be surprised if she wants to try to nurse again. Some moms let that happen, and the toddler quickly tires of it. If you're uncomfortable with that, just explain that it is just for baby, who can't eat all the great things she eats yet.
Good luck and congratulations!

I'm not sure why you're so concerned about covering up, especially at home? Nursing is a very natural thing, nothing to be ashamed of, so why hide that from your daughter? You'll probably soon find her trying to imitate you with her babies. Both of my daughters did. Even one of my sons did once until it was explained to him that Daddy's didn't nurse the babies. LOL

My children hated to be covered, and would set up a huge fuss. It's very possible to discreetly nurse without a cover and if done properly most people don't realize you're even doing it. That being said though, the few times I felt the need to be covered, I simply used the tail of my sling. I had a Maya Wrap with an open end so I just had to flip it over my shoulder. Oddly enough, that was the one cover that didn't bother them.

I ordered a nursing cover from uddercovers and it never came to me. I would be careful about ordering from them.

I had a bebe au lait and LOVED it!!! There is a soft wire at the top that allows you to see the baby and provides some airflow! I am pregnant with my second and will probably get another so I am never without one! They also were great sunshades for strollers ;)

I made mine. If your handy at sewing it a simple square with a loop to put over my head that can be adjusted with D rings. It covers the front and i wear a baby band under my shirts to cover my back.
Like other mamas said at home i dont cover up unless we have company. We are a very open family though. We don't make nudity an issue.

I have to agree with others that it's really not necessary to cover up at home. Just act matter of fact like it's not big deal. Explain it to your 2 year old and I'm sure she will think it's no big deal too. If you cover it up she will really want to know what is going on.

With that said, I didn't even know they made nursing covers! When I breastfed my son I just used a receiving blanket to cover up and wore button down shirt or nursing shirts whenever possible. This is also what I plan to do with baby #2 that is due in 9 weeks. I figure why spend the extra money!

Good luck!

Be sure to get one that has an opening to allow you to see your baby and he/she won't get so hot. On amazon.com, just enter "nursing covers" and you can find new ones at a discount.

Congratulations!

There aRe lots of boutique shops on Facebook that sell customized ones. I received mine from moms for mommies and love it! It was made with the fabric of my choice and was very fashionable as well as comfortable. They also sell other accessories that can all be customized to your liking! If you check out their fb let them know I sent you please :-) thanks and happy breastfeeding!!! It's by far the best decision I made for my children.
