Does anyone know of a reasonable notary service in the south bay area? I just need my daughter's birth document notarized so I can send for her birth certificate. My credit union used to offer it for free, but they've moved too far away. And how much is reasonable?
Thanks, moms.

Postal solutions on Torrance Blvd is a great place. In fact, I received a gift certificate for a free notary for baby's birth certificates from Little Company of Mary when I gave birth. Postal Solutions let us keep the gift certificate, so you're welcome to use it for a free notary there if you like. Let me know and I can mail it to you. ____@____.com

Notaries can only charge you $10 per signature. It's the law. Unless they travel to you, in which case they can charge a travel fee at their discretion. But they cannot charge you more than $10 for each signature they notarize.

Hi Sokun,
I don't know where you are, but there is a place on Torrance Blvd, between Prospect and Anza on the north side of the street that I've used a few times. Can't remember the name, but it has the word "notory" in it, so you can't miss it. I think they charge $10.

Most UPS or Mail Service companies offer it for $10. If you delivered at Little Company they give you a voucher when you leave for a free notary near the hospital...

Good luck!

Most notaries will charge $10/signature. Some postal places will have notary services. If you live in Torrance, there's a notary service in the Vons market in the postal/fed-ex store. They charge $10/signature. (I have a friend who is a notary who says that's the going rate).

Hi Sokun,
I am a Notary. By law in California we can only charge $10.00 maximum per signature. However, if we need to come to your place you have to pay for the traveling fee which would depend on where you are .. distance wise. Please keep in mind that in USA it is against the law to notarize vital records such as birth certificate and death certificate. Only government official can notarize them.
Since you are a member of this forum I will notarize it for you free of charge if you come to my place which is in Hawthorne. Or, you can just go directly to the county recorder which is not far from the South Bay -- that way your paperwork doesn't need to be notarized and you'll get your birth certificate faster. Please fill out the form before you go there so that you don't need to waste your time in line. Call me for direction ###-###-####
I hope this helped.

Postal Solutions will probably do it for free if you bring in the complimentary birth certificate from the hospital. They are very friendly and located at 4733 Torrance Blvd, between Anza Ave and Palos Verdes Dr on the North side of the street. It is the shopping mall behind Pavilions. Their number is ###-###-####.
