I have a 2 year old son and a almost 3 month old daughter. I have called my son "boo" as a nickname since his birth. He answers to it and when I ask him his name he says boo. He does also answer to his real name. I also call my DD by her nickname which is "squeak" cause she doesnt really cry, just squeaks. We also call my son's feet "stinks" and now he calls feet stinks. Anyone else get a little carried away with the nicknames?? Or is it just me??

What can I do next?

Sometimes while we are out I will refer to my girls as Broomhilda and Hildagard just so that I am not 'advertising' their real names to strangers. It started as a joke but sort of stuck.

In the house we have a host of other nicknames :-)

Those are really cute! My sister was called "Miss Boo". Two of my friends call me "Birdie". There is a grown man in my neighborhood that goes by the name of "BooBoo"-my husband can't bring himself to call him that, though. I also recently heard of children who were taught to call their grandmother "Gorgeous"! How 'bout that? xx on their little heads for me!

my hunny calls our boy knucklehead. Most people just yell ZAYAH! Isaiah is a hand full!

My little bit is well....little bit! I also call her princessa, chocolate puddin, baby JJ or just JJ.

My oldest has always been Jessie Bear. I sing to her... What will you wear Jessie Bear Jessie Bear. I used to call her oompa, because she loved Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - boy she hated that nickname! Her daddy calls her Dewberry

Yes, I get way carried away with nicknames. But I come by it naturally. My mom called me T. Daisy and motormouth. :)

We have nicknames too, they have changed over time, but each child knows who I am calling if I call them by a nickname. LOL, my husband does not always know who is who's nickname.

Yeah lol.
My 2 y/o's name is Roxy Jo.
We call her Rox, Ro-jo, Ro-has, Hard ROX cafe, Roxy oxy oxy.
She answers to all of them, but we mostly call her Ro-jo (not the spanish word for Red).
My FIL calls my daughter something in spanish. I know it as something aweful/cuss word, but he says it means something else. Whats funny is my MIL who is mexican doesn't know! It's an ongoing debate! =)
I also call my SO Ant....his name is Anthony. I walked into Bsskin Robins one year for his bday and had them write that on the cake. I could hear the girls behind the counter "why does she want that on the cake?" "What does it mean?" "Are you sure she doesn't mean Aunt?" LOL. Finially I spoke up and told them and got a collective "ooohhhh, ok".

I call my daughter Bug-a-boo or buggy most of the time. I call my son Tiger or Tiger boy. I am pregnant with #3 and wonder what this one will be called. Nicknames are fun.

My daughter has about a dozen nicknames, ranging from Pie to Piper le Diaper to Stinky McStinksalot and more in between. My son isn't even born yet and he already has 3 major nicknames. We're just a nickname kind of family. My favorite thing about nicknames is how they morph and change over time. Have fun with the nicknames and see where they're at in 10 years or so. :-)

My little cousin was 'booger' until he hit 5, and 'grew out' of the nickname. My little brother is 5, and I have been calling him 'Bug' since he was born. I am the only one allowed to call him this though, anyone else tries and they get the stinkeye. lol. My fiance and I have nicknamed our DD 'Little Duck'. I don't think you are carried away at all. lol.

I started calling my daughter noo noo because she used to go limp noodle on me if she didn't want to be picked up. She's 4 and it just sorta stuck. We also call her P Diddy, or P (her name starts with P). Our dog's name is Kali but she gets called Pooty and the cat's name is Tweezer but he mainly gets called weezer or weezy. Everyone gets a nickname around here...it means you're a part of the family :)

I had serious issues with my second son and his diaper blow outs! So I started calling him Natey Poo! It was cute until I noticed my nephews and extended family started calling him it as if it was his real name!! My hubby insists we need to drop the Pooh quick!

Its funny tho' we don't have any nicknames for my oldest...but my 2nd has a handful if not more :) I had more than enough myself as a kid-- Meme, Amers, Macinwire, sticks, muscles--yeah I was some scrawny thing and everyone loved to capitalize on that--Apparently as much as we are poking fun at how big my youngest is :)

no, my husband has a nick name for everyone... he gave me a nickname I just love to death, and he's the only one that calls me it, so it's really special to me... I love nick names and feel bad because I have never been as creative as he...

I almost never use my kid's real names. : ) I too called our son Boo and Boo Boo, now it is mostly Bubby b/c his little sister could not say brother so she called him Bo-bba and it evolved into Bubby. His name is Parker so sometimes it is Park, Parky, Parka poo, etc Our daughter is Ashlyn and I call her Ash mostly but sometimes Ashy boo, Ash-a-boo, punkin' or punky. so many more, whatever fits the moment. I think they are endearing and my kids seem to love them too.

OMG yeah.. First off my husband is mexican so there's hijo or simone (which means yes or yeah but it stuck as a name i guess..like see-moan) for our first son usually, then Mya is mymy and hija, Then my last is Baby D or just D and I know it's soo bad but I called him phatty (pretty hot and totally totally yummy..lol) since he was baby so he answers to that.. I can only imagine what people think when I say that out loud.. I luv nicknames I think they are so personal..and sometimes like Mymy was created by our 1st son because he couldnt say Mya.. So sometimes its just cute :)
