Newly Single Mom Who Needs a Job

I'm trying to find a job to support me and my three kids, but I don't have much experience in anything. I took a break from college when I had my first son, but never made it back b/c I kept getting pregnant. I work part time at the YMCA in the Kid Zone where I can take my kids with me, but it doesn't pay much. I'm having a very hard time finding another job. Does anyone know of something I could do from home so I don't have to worry about daycare? The cost of daycare alone would probably be more than my paycheck so I'm in kind of a desperate situation.

What can I do next?

There are a lot of home-based businesses that you can make a go of it with. Just be sure that it is a well-known, well-established company that you are working for. My sister is a Mary Kay consultant and was able to quit her job after less than 3 months and make more than what she made at her job. It takes dedication, but you can set your own hours. She loves doing it, and she's met a lot of people in the process that have become good friends, many of whom also swap babysitting with her on occassion. There are a lot of options like that that you would be able to do at home.

Reputable companies like Mary Kay are a good idea for any stay at home mom, but be careful about start up costs. Avon costs very little to start your business but the profit margin is not as high as Mary Kay. I have sold both, and now I am a distributor for a comapny called Omnitrition which sells nutirional suppliments. The income percentage on their items is good and since they are expensive you can make a nice profit. It takes mostly foot work, putting out flyers etc to get going with it but you can make $100 a week without much more effort than some signs on your vehicle and flyers at the laudry mat. Putting some real effort into it and you can make a lot of money, but that is true with Mary Kay and Avon and other similar companies as well. I guess it all boils down tohow much time and effort you can put into it and how much you are willing to spend to start your business. Good luck. I was a single mom for a few years with babies not quite 2 and 3 and I know how hard it is to get back into the work force. Stay strong and hang in there.

sorry, i really don't have a response about the job situation. but i do have some ideas for childcare. the state university for where i live has a childcare center run for students and teachers as well as the public and i think witchita state does too. i don't know about witchita, but the rates for the university here are INSANELY cheap! you might want to check that out and it might take a giant load off of you financially.
