I am moving to Ft. Wayne in June and will be on the southwest side of town. I have two boys, 3 and 1, and am looking for a very compassionate pediatrician who would be good with a special needs child. My older son has autism. I also need someone who does not take forever to get into. Any advice? I also need a pediatric eye doctor, a neurologist, an ENT... Ugh. I guess if I get into a good pediatrician they can recommend all the other specialists we need! Thanks in advance for any info!

Hi, E.! May I be the first to say "Welcome to Fort Wayne!" I too have a special needs child (Crista, 3-years-old), and she has MANY physicians. Our pediatrician is Dr. Ronald Sarrazine of Parkview Medical Group. He's on the Northeast side of town, but his office is right off I-69. He's wonderful with all (I have 3 between 2 & 8) of our children and they just love him and his staff. If you didn't want to travel, his office may be able to recommend someone. As for the other physicians: We actually travel to Indy for Crista's opthamologist. His name is Dr. Roberts of Midwest Eye Institute. To my knowledge the only pediatric opthamologist left Fort Wayne some time ago. And to be honest we like Dr. Roberts so much that I wouldn't see one in Fort Wayne anyway. Crista's neurologist is Dr. Amy Stauffer. She's wonderful and compassionate, and she's doesn't double book her calender. I've only waited more than 5 minutes one time! Our ENT is Dr. Reddy at Ear, Nose & Throat Associates. He's brilliant, and wonderful with Crista. Our son sees Dr. Stein, with the same group, and he's fantastic as well. Crista also has a geneticist, pulmonoligist, dentist, orthopaedic specialist, cardiologist and many therapists. Please let me know if I can help you in any other way. Goodluck!

My kids and I love Dr. Sarrazine too. His number is ###-###-####. I also live southwest and never mind the 15 minute drive to see him. It is well worth it. I was also new to Fort Wayne when I had my first of two boys. This is the pediatrician that my OB takes her children to. And she highly recommended him. Dr. Sarrazine has 5 children of his own and really does a great job in talking to parents as well as understanding the child. My boys are 3 and 1.

That's funny, I was totally going to say Heather Wolfe too! She's amazing with both you and your kids. Very down to earth. She works for Pediatric Associates at Lutheran Hospital. ###-###-#### If you park on the 2nd level of the parking garage, go in through the skywalk, take a left past the stairs, you'll run into their door at the end of the hall. You should go in and visit and see how you like it! You'd like the convenience, because they have multiple doctors, so you can ALWAYS be seen on the same day as you call with a sick child. I've seen 3 doctors there, and I haven't found one that I didn't like. Dr. Wolfe's my fav though. Where are you moving? I live SW too and have a 4 year old boy and a 5 year old girl. Do you stay at home with the kids? You will LOVE SW, the schools are GREAT, shopping is GREAT, and there are many many things you can do with the kids that are only 15 minutes or less away!

Get ahold of me if you want someone to tell you a little about the area!

Hi E., Info on doctor's in Ft. Wayne ~ There's a group called ENT Specialists, there main office is 2730 E. State but they have an office southwest just off 24 (Jefferson Blvd) and Engle Rd. There are 6 doctors in the group and I like Cynthia Wellman (she took care of our grandson). I'm sure they are all good doctors but personality wise you would have to be the judge. Their number is ###-###-#### just in case you want to gather info from them before you move. A very good pediatric group is Pediatric Associates Inc. (toll free # 877-436-3789) They are located at 7910 W. Jefferson Blvd., Ste. 201 and have 8 doctors listed at this time. My guess is that they could steer you in the right direction for the specialists that you need and with a toll free number you may be able to get info from them before you move. This group has been around for a long while and I know lots of people who have taken their children to them. If you are looking for a Family Practice Physician I would recommend BMA (Brooklyn Medical Associates) they have several offices in the city and 2 southwest. I hope this info can help in some small way ~ I haven't worked in the nursing field in a number of years and there was a time when I knew many of the doctors in the city. I guess I still know many of them except the younger ones who have gone into practice lately. GOOD LUCK in your search for a doctor. I think that finding a doctor is one of the hardest things to do because you never know the doctor's personality until you meet them and their staff.

Dr. Reddy is a wonderful pediatric ENT specialist. He's so great with the kids. We've only had to see him once, but I loved him! Dr. Ghazali is a great pediatric cardiologist. I think he's the only cardiologist in Fort Wayne that specializes in pediatrics. His office is located by Lutheran hospital, so it's pretty close to where you'll be. We had to take my dd to him for an echo earlier this year. The technician that did the echo was wonderful and extremely patient with my squirmy toddler.
