I have had several awkward and uncomfortable experiences with my daughter's pediatrician. I took her in for her 9-month-old check-up today and was shocked by the attitude and bedside manner of the doctor. I do not want to take my daughter back to this pediatrician. Does anyone know of a good pediatrician in the Golden/Lakewood/Denver area who is more of a gentle, sensitive, professional type as opposed to an "in your face" type of personality? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, I am really struggling with trying to shake off today's bad experience. I have thought about writing a letter to the pediatrician's office to express my distraught and concern. Is this an appropriate action to take?
we switched drs when my first was 9 months old, and completely sick and lethargic, not eating, and i was told that a 103 temp was perfectly normal and he was fine. We switched to Green Mountain Pediatrics, and 6 years, and 4 more children later we still LOVE them!
We love our doctors at Denver West Pediatrics. My boys see Dr Hal Stein and my girls see Dr Linda Couillard. They loved Dr Stein as well but as my oldest daughter started getting older she was wanting a female doctor. We have also seen Dr Campbell a few times and ALL are wonderful!! Our first pediatrician was not responsive to any of our concerns at all and we switched to this practice. When I had my third child the nurse at the hospital asked who my pediatrician was and when I said Dr Stein, she got a big smile on her face and said "Oh he is great! You'll be fine!" Makes me feel good when other professionals give an unsolicited endorsement.
Their office is across I-70 from Colorado Mills Mall, in the same building as the Denver Eye Surgeons.
Absolutely write the letter!!

I'm wondering if your doctors office was off 285 and Wadsworth ??? That's where we went and I switched after 3 months and wrote a letter. They where awful !!! I think our doctors name was Goldberg ??
We have been with Arapahoe Pediatrics and our Doctor is Dr. Susan Girardeau and I LOVE her. My 9 month old was sick all the time at birth that she gave us her cell number to call her directly. They get you in right away all the time no matter what and they are just wonderful with all 3 of my kids !!!! Its at Littleton Hospital her office but well worth the drive !!!! I LOVE them :)

I love my pediatric group, though they are in littleton. I know SEVERAL families who also use this group. Very kind, sensitive and personal. You can call them and ask for a referal to a pediatrician in your area. Greenwood Pediatrics (Littleton office) ###-###-#### (I think...double check). Also, know anyone in the medical field who can refer for you. medical personel know medical personel. Also, children's hospital has a peditrician referal service. Ask, friends, neigbors, other mom's taht you may be in a mom's group with. good luck!

As far as writing the letter, I usually do that type of thing and then have my husband or mom read it over to soften it, but having worked in several similar situations, it is helpful to know what the issues are. It probably will go to the office manager. If it's a huge practice, it will go to personnel. Either way, someone will be taking note of the lost business, especially in this economy. The key is to by kind and calm. If you berate the doctor, it is more likely to be written off as you are the type who would be difficult to please. GL with both!
