Hey mommas!! Well i recently made the worst choice of my life. CUT MY HAIR SHORT!!! i used to have wavy medium lenth hair...but it was all so damaged and burned that i decided to cut some of it off...the point is i told the stylist i wanted an A line haircut but 4 in away from my chin...kind of getting a picture?? Instead she cuts my hair up to my chin and its just super short i really hate it...she says that my hair will grow faster after i give birth to my baby which will be in 3 months!!!! sorry for the venting i just feel frustrated and i hate how ppl go "you CHOPPED your hair off omg" its like i dont need ppl to remind me so i just reply "yes i did" And im just freaking out with everything gift wrapping, cooking and now my hair!!! (i know sorry for the venting) ANYWAYS!!! my question is any styling suggestions for the holidays?? Anything i can do to love my thin short haircut?? I've already tried straightening and the back is so short that my straightener cant straighten it.Plus i have an oval shape face with some extra cheeks and the haircut doesnt compliment my face if you know what i mean...aka i look chubbier than usual...So please any advice???? thanks in advance and Merry Christmas
(i dont have self esstem problems just freaking out because this is all new to me lol)

What can I do next?

I agree, you need to relax. Its only hair. And while yes, it might make you uncomfortable for a few months, it will grow back. Just look at it this way, it will probably take less effort to do in the morning every day. To ease what people say about chopping it off. Just say, yes I chopped it off much more than my liking. I'm hoping it grows back quickly.

Oh just thought of another plus, after my first daughter I cut it short (more than my liking too) vs. when I had my second daughter hair below my shoulders. Well one of the bonuses of having it short is you don't notice all the hair loss like you do when its long.

I just cut a bunch of my hair off and although it's shorter than I'm used to, I'm so glad I did it. I've been ill and in the hospital and the medications I was on, etc really dried my hair. It feels so nice now!
It really is just hair, it will grow back. Part of it is the shock of having it so different. Take a deep breath. They have such cute hair clips and headbands now. You can make yourself look darling! Go with it as your hair grows out. Sometimes it grows much more quickly with the damaged parts all gone.

It really will be okay. Maybe try a more conservative hairdresser next time. I usually have to tell mine to keep cutting.

Relax and enjoy the holidays!

Best wishes.

You may just be in shock. It's unnerving to look in the mirror and wonder who that woman is.

If I were you, I'd give myself a few days. If you don't like it better by next week, talk to your friends and get the name of the best hairdresser in your neighborhood. Call for a consultation and ask if she (or he) can fix your short hair so you'll like your look a little better.

I watch "What Not to Wear" once in a while, and I always hear on that show that we ought to treat our hair as an accessory - being willing to try new things. So look on this cut as a "new thing." Maybe next week you can have another "new thing." You might even get someone to take your picture today so you can have a "before and after" photo pair.

For now, if no one is looking at you and fainting from fright, and if your children still love you and recognize you as their Mama, you'll make it through Christmas.

Relax - it's only hair. If it was damaged, it might have been a good idea to cut it shorter than you actually planned. It's just a big shock to you after all that time without a new style. You can't do anything about it so just relax and let it grow. You're in holiday stress, and you have pregnancy hormones taking over your body and brain. With your weight gain, you may be extra sensitive to your "chubby cheeks" anyway! Also your long hair pulled the lines down and you just didn't see your face much! Short hair might be easier to take care of once you have an infant taking up every moment! Give yourself a break.

So sorry! Hair is so important to the self esteem but remember it always looks different to yourself than it does to other people. Try a headband to get it away from your face or a couple of small barettes with bling for the holidays. Or a rhinestone clip just on one side. If it's long enough to curl, you might want to do loose curls which might soften it up if you are used to longer hair. Don't worry - you will look great!

Oh H., what a bummer!! There's nothing worse than a bad haircut!

I, for one, am huge fan of hats! There are so many cute ones out there right now, I bet you could find some that can get you through in style until your hair grows out a little. Or as other have mentioned there are super cute barrettes and head bands that you could try.

It might be tragic now, but I bet in no time it will seem funny. I have a "home high lighting" story like that, oh and the time I dyed my hair and the ash color made it green... AND the time that the stylist misinterpreted what I wanted and used a razor on my hair and made me look like John Travolta. Yeah.... good times... :)

Experiment with scarves and headbands!

Blow it dry after you get out of the shower so you don't have to try and straighten it later.

When everyone is like "OMG you cut your hair off" reply "Well the stylist did but thanks for your vote of confidence that I could have done this!"

If all else fails, wear a Santa hat for the next week!

I bet to others it is just so different it is a surprise.. They are not saying OMG your hair looks terrible, it is just surprising to see a new style..

It was a good decision to cut off the damaged part.

I had a friend that said at night while pregnant and taking the Prenatal vitamins her hair and nails grew so fast, she swore she could hear the hair.. She was so funny.. Each time, she felt her nails were looking poorly, she would get some super vitamins..

Just enjoy it and how easy it is to not have to fool with all of the hair..

no suggestions but I just wanted to let you know I'm in the same boat. I went to a Korean salon for some stupid reason and I couldn't communicate properly w/ the stylist (I'm Korean-American but can't really speak it too well) and I ended up with hair that was waaay shorter and choppier than I wanted. I wanted to cry! Even as we speak, I have it sort of tied up as best I can b/c I dont know what else to do with it! Maybe try barrettes??

I Feel your pain! I'm sorry !! And what a shitty time for it to happen - before the holidays ;-) lol when I was 6 months preggers I decided to get Bangs!!! YUCK I had a Round face and hair up to my chin w/ Bangs............. TERRIBLE it was just really really bad! What about a cute head band or maybe pin back the sides behind your ears? It will be fine :-) I think a snazzy head band and Make up will do the trick to make you feel GOOD!
MERRY CHRISTMAS

Oh geez, I remember this feeling! When your hair is too short to straighten in the back, well it probably varies a lot from woman to woman. In my case I stopped fighting the waves and started doing a quick set or doing the gel and finger scrunch thing so it looked intentional. The semi-curly look hides all kinds of sins and will work until you get a few inches back. Little clips and narrow head bands set this off well.

If you blow your hair out with the right technique, it will be super straight and silky. Trust me, I said this to a co-worker, she told me "no way, not my hair" and trid it and it worked. The trick is to have a boar bristle brush with nylon in it too (Mason Pearson makes the great one, but Target sells a cheap knock-off) and blow your hair mostly from the back forward, brushing constantly with the dryer... after the hair reaches a damp stage (when it's too wet you will damage your hair this way - so use your fingers with the dryer until it gets to damp stage, then start with the brush). For the back, blow from one side, and brush too, then blow from the other side, and brush. Do this until it's totally dry. It will be straight and silky.

Sounds like your hair length stops in just the place to make a full face appear even more full. You may want to try pulling it back away from your face somehow.

Oooo... Been there, done that, too. I know what it's like to get the haircut you didn't want - ever time you catch your reflection it startles you! The only advice I can give you is take a deep breath (or six or seven) and tell yourself it will grow back. Act like you did it on purpose when faced with comments from acquaintances. Admit to girl friends that the haircut was an accident and ask any who wear their hair short for styling tips. Also ask girlfriends whose hair you like for stylist recommendations - obviously you won't want to go back to the one who butchered your hair.

One thing you could do to help you get happy with it while you're waiting for it to grow is investigate playing with color. A few highlights close to the face can help shift focus from the shape of your face to your lovely eyes.

wow-that stinks! I got my hair cut short like that by accident a couple years age (that long in front short in back look-horrible!) If you think it is salvageable to be cut into another haircut then book with a really good stylist. Maybe some bangs or something would help it out. Otherwise you have to just wait it out-sorry. But really watch with the straightener-those are SO bad for your hair.

Get some good wavy/curly product and quit trying to straighten it. I bet it'll be really cute after you get used to it, and you might save some time in the mornings! Take a few extra minutes for the next few days and try doing different things with it- blowdry, scrunch, pin some back, let loose, etc. and see what you like best. I've had cuts I hated too, but luckily, hair grows (and fast, if you're taking prenatal vitamins!), so you just have to find something that will work temporarily. By the time you learn what you like with this cut, it'll have grown and you'll find something different! It's hat season anyway, so if you just can't do a thing with it and like it, get a cute one and wear it a lot! Happy holidays!!

I'd be more than happy to help you see some different ways to style it until it grows out a bit. message me if you'd like more info- I'd be happy to send you pictures of things I've done as well. My email address: ____@____.com I totally understand the feeling of "what the???" because unfortunately not every hair stylist is a good stylist. I had a BAD cut this summer too. majorly dissappointing.

Can you go to a different salon that where someone goes whose hair you really like and just ask for a consultation, not another cut? That way you can get a professional's opinion on whether the cut flatters your face, and if the cut was done correctly. If needed, she might be able to shorten the fronts that are hanging longer if I get the picture correctly. That way, even if you do not like it short, at least you will like the style since it is short already. Alternately, look into cute wigs. There are ones that are not very pricey and they come in straight page boy styles as well as curly Farrah Fawcett styles and everything in between. Here is one website: http://www.voguewigs.com/?gclid=CM6Jopb5gqYCFcbd4AodPT2KoA
Finally, wait a few days and see if it "grows" on you. My daughter recently decided to cut her long hair and hated it when she left the salon and a week later we went back to make it just a bit shorter and now she loves it. Good luck.
