My son is 2 years old, bath time is fun until (i think he has to pee) he freaks out he will hold himself, then when I pick him up with a towel on I tell him its ok to pee still freaking out then I will put his diaper on him he is fine so thats why I think its because he has to pee.. I did buy him a potty but there is not really any interest in it?? Not sure what to do... If I should just leave it alone.

What can I do next?

S., first start off rewarding your son with jelly belly beans or m&ms. One little jelly bean can make the difference.
So when his diaper is off and you tell him that if he sits on the potty, he can get a jelly bean of whatever his favorite color is. Let him know that he does not have to pee, reward him at first for just sitting on the potty with his diaper off. The first time he urinates on the potty make a big deal out of it with hugs and kisses and jelly beans. Be patient and consistent and he will it time become potty trained.
Remember reward him with something he really likes, it doesn't have to be jelly beans or m&ms. Angie

I know what you are going through. My son (now 13) wouldn't go pee when I thought he needed to go. I asked my husband to help me in that department. The problem he was too modest and shy, he knew that I was different and his dad was the same as him. Well, that worked! I hope this works out for you.

God Bless,

A.

There is a great video about going on the potty that you can check out at the library. It is very graphic and actually shows a little boy going potty but I watched it one time with a little boy I used to baby sit and he started going on the potty right away.

Your son may just have a touch of OCD like my daughter. She used to do the same thing only she could usually hold it long enough for the bath to be over. But whenever we'd let her run around without anything on she would be fine until she needed to potty and then she wanted the diaper on. I don't know how long it took but eventually she just got over it.

S....I have a similar problem with my 2 year old also. When I ask where he's suppose to go pee pee and boo boo he answers "in the potty." However, he never seems to go. I started some months ago and figured he wasn't ready so I never really pushed it on him. But it's gotten ridiculous so we're trying it again.

You're doing a great job...all you can do is keep continuing to encourage him. Pretty soon he'll get the message.

Hi! It is hard to give advice to other moms but I will go for it - it may help! Try having an "open door" policy in your house for urinating - especially; have your husband do it in front of him- be excited about it and say"Look I'm peeing!! Yay!" and verbalize how natural it is. Talk to your son in a really calm fashion about it in simple "toddler" words - the message will get through. If you don't respond to his freaking out he may be calmer about it. My son is 2 1/2 and when he reacts to something I have a hard time keeping my cool too! Good luck! I feel for you.
