Hey there I really need some great ideas for my little girl's 4th Bday Party. Monday is her Bday but we are doing the party on the 15th so I have a bit of time to plan. Now there are going to be kids here from infant to 11yo boys and girls and ofcourse the parents. I want to not do over the top too many things but I really want them to have fun and enjoy themselves. We are going to have the party in our home in an open style room. So Any Ideas/Suggestions would be great and ofcourse (any money saving ideas are loved). Thanks

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well I wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone but we had to cancel the whole party due to scheduling conflicts with family/friends and DH's work - plus my house was a disaster for various reasons (I HATE TO CLEAN & I went on strike with my daughters - another long story)
Anyway I really appreciated all the help. BTW the my little girl didn't mind b/c she got totally spoiled by her Great Granma instead and I am going to let her have an Unbirthday party later.

A while back Martha stewart showed the cutest monkey cake on her show and had monkey party ideas. The cake was banana flavored and baked in a stainless steel bowl to get a nice round head shape. sooo cute. I would go to her website and do a search on monkey stuff to see what comes up.
Good Luck!

Have a character Party for the kids that love to dress up My Nephew had a star wars party it was a blast everyone came as either Darth Vader,Luke skywalker,Chewbacka,Princess Leia and so on... For another Idea if the Boys are into sports let them come in as their Favorite Foot Ball Player or Hockey Player

For My Niece we had a princess Party Now she is 13 so we are going to have a roller skating party with all her friends

I have some great ideas for kids parties i have done so many parties and so many ideas. Let's say that you are doing a parties for a little girl find out what she likes and then try to tie that into your ideas say she likes princess have everyone dress up even the adults. Everyone should dress like counts and all that kind off stuff so the birthday girl will feel like a real princess. Now if you are doing a birthday party for a boy you can do something like cowboy's or the big theme that i have been asked to do is the movie pirates of the Caribbean and when i do that theme all the boy's and girl's have so much fun but any idea's that parent's come up with takes a lot of time and alot of thought so that their children will have fun. A lot of children these day's see things on the television that they like pay close attention to what they see and the type's of shows that they watch that will also give you idea's to having a great party. Me as a Aunt/Parent sometimes i have a hard time with my kid's birthday's because they love all kinds of things so me wanting to please them i just have a birthday party with all the things they like everything at a party doesn't have to store bought it can be made by you and your children or even your grand children when i have a birthday for one of my children i all ways have a gift for my other child so that they don't feel left out i think that just because it's one of my children's birthday's the other child shouldn't get anything it could just be something small so that they have something that they can play with at the party.

You can make your own cake in the shape of a monkey head by baking one large circle(10-12 inches) and 2 smaller circles (about 6 inches)

Use the large circle for your monkey head, cut one of the circles in half and place each half circle on opposite sides of the larger circle for ears frost in chocolate, sealing the connection between head and ears. Place remaining small circle in the bottom center of the larger one for the monkey's nose. Frost with a much lighter brown (mix 1 part chocolate with 2 parts white frosting)

Use jelly beans for the nostril and eyes.... nostrils are at the top of the lighter circle about one half in apart and eyes are half way between the nostrils and ears on the larger circle, resting against the smaller circle.

Use cherry licorice laces for the mouth on the top smaller circle... just one lace in an inverted arc along the lower part of the circle.

You can add further detail by making a lighter brown inset for the inside of the ears.

Hope you understand this... AND I hope its helpful!

sounds silly, but kids love to pretend...how about a prize for the best monkey impersonation? or have the kids all name items that monkeys are associated with...bananas, trees, rope, big teeth, hairy....you get it. my kids have always enjoyed having a pinata -- nothing elaborate, but filled with candy and goodies. fun for all ages too! and, if you're a good baker, how about a cake in the shape of a monkey's head or something along those lines.

Oriental Trading Company is the best. I ordered a inflatable monkey from there and it was very reasonable.

If you are looking for goody bag stuffers, the dollar store always has cheap fun things for kid's like chalk, stickers, and probably monkey stuff (obviously you have to make sure they are age appropriate). Getting a multi-pack from Sam's with Teddy Grahams, Cinnamon Sticks, and Assorted crackers bagged, always go over well because they aren't junk and the little one's can have them also.

Have fun and happy birthday to your little one.

Go to the parents.com website and type "party ideas" into their search box at the top of the page. They have pages and pages of ideas and I'm sure you can find some that will fit with the ages and personalities of the kids who will be attending your event.

If the weather is nice, there are all types of outdoor events and relay activities that you can do. I remember when I was a kid, my mother had a pile of really ugly seventies clothes (pants, shirt, wig, hat, sunglasses) and the relay was to run to the pile, put everything on, have your photo taken, take it off and get back to your team to tag the next person. It was great fun and the photos, to this day, are still REALLY funny! My mom also created a birthday tradition of buying Coca-cola in the little glass bottles as special treat, and so we could have a birthday toast and "clink" bottles. We still buy little cokes for special events! Be creative and you will be sure to have a memorable event! Good luck!

Hi there Frances! My grandaughter Meaghann lives in Chicago and she decided that I should join Mamasource so she enrolled me. I am a retired special ed. teacher and I am 57 years old. I also love to garden and I live in Seminole. My reason for writing is that I also love photography and for a few years I been designing slide shows for special occassions, mostly birthdays. If you need a photographer for the party I will be glad to get together with you to talk. I usually charge 100.00 dollars for taking the pics, a cd with all the birthday pics and a slide show with transitions, music and 50 of the best shots. This is something I do to make a little extra money so I am not licensed yet. I have slide shows that I have done and some ideas that I would like to share. If you are interested please contact me at ____@____.com -I also enjoy decorating.

You can download pics of monkeys and Curious George and let the kids color them at the party and decorate the house. Of course you put up some streamers and what they can hang pics on.

Good Morning Frances,

Isn't it too much fun!! I loved setting up parties when my son was young. The one I remember the best, was we rented all these differet games (not real expensive) for them to play. It was like being at their own fair! We had tickets if they won and then we had some inexpensive (Dollar Store) prices for them. Boys and girls alike absolutely loved it. You can also design games yourself. Carry the egg on a spoon to your partner feet away from each other. Put the apple under your neck and try to give it to the person standing next to them by getting it under their neck. Balloon toss, where they gently toss a balloon (filled with a small amount of water) to their partner or their mom/dad.

Hope some of this works! Don't forget to video it!!!

What a coindidence! I am planning my 2 year olds Monkey themed party right now. I ordered plastic safari hats instead of regular birthday hats, I am renting a jungle themed bouncy castle/slide combo, serving banana flavored cake (I can send you recipes if you like), give treat bags to the kids with monkey stuffed toys, curious george puzzle, and other stuff like that, I'm making monkey shaped chocolate lollipops and cupcakes with monkey faces on them. Oh, and I have a chocolate fountain and bananas for dipping. I am just using primary colored balloons, table cloths and tableware. I am not planning on playing games with the kids or anything, but if you want to do that there are some great ideas out on the internet. I can't remember what ones I came across now, but they are definitely out there. Good luck! And if you want recipes or to borrow my monkey candy molds just let me know!

Frances,
Since you like crafts why not make your own "pin the tail" game with a monkey and bananas or a monkey pinata filled with banana taffy and maybe one toy item to keep it simple. Oriental Trading.com is a great place to get stuff. Also you can make monkey puppets out of brown bags or socks from the dollar store and have the kids put on a puppet show....
I am not great at these things so if my suggestions are lame I am sorry! LOL

just relax and have fun!!!!

How about a petting Zoo(outside of course). Kids that age love all kids of animals. We have Baby Rabbits, chickens, goat, and Pony. That will definatly keep them busy for an hour or so then take them back inside. As for the monkey theme, you can play games like pin the tail on the monkey and other popular games just change it to be about monkeys.

you could go online, find monkey images that you like, print them, and make a banner for her by taping/stapling them together!

also, put out baskets of bananas instead of chips or candy.

have the kids color images of monkeys also as an activity, you can also find the, online.

oriental trading compnay is a GREAT idea as well!

HAVE FUN, it sounds like a great party!
