Need Help with Possible Baby Names....

We have recently found out that we are expecting another boy!! We are very excited, however, we already have 3 boys between the 2 of us and 1 girl. I am finding it more difficult to name this child than the others. Any and all ideas are appreciated!!

Our other children are Samuel, Alexander, Elizabeth, & Matthew. So obviously those names are out. :-)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your responses!! My husband and I are slowly going through a list to see what we both like and what works with our family :-) As the baby isn't due until June we have some time to sift through all you have given us.

Love Samuel! You need a Nicholas. I have a lovely 15 yr old nicko and its a strong, classic name!
Nicholas gets my vote!! Good luck

I like Nicholas to add to the mix.
What about Max, James, Mark, Ethan, or Elijah

Harry is cute too but that's my husband's name so I'm partial to that.

Since you went with formal names Samuel (not Sam), Alexander (not Alex), etc...I am thinking you want to stick with that theme. Now my question is....do you give them the shortened nick name? Like Same or Alex or Matt? Or do you stick with the formal name?

I really like James, Benjamin, Christopher

Your children have such beautiful, classic names! A few you might consider:

Nathaniel (my first choice for you)
William
Henry
Thomas
Edward
David
James
Benjamin/Bennett
Paul
Daniel
Lawrence (especially if you can get him to go without a nickname)
Oliver

You've chosen nice, classic names for your other children. With those names, for a new baby boy, I would pick something like Lucas, David or William. Good luck in choosing, I hope you will let us know what you've picked.

my boyfriend and i are expecting our first child this summer and it seems like the conversation about names never ends even after we think we've finally picked one.. from the names your other children have you are just like me and like traditional names.. there were a few things i found discouraging about asking others for opinions.. first of all it only added more names to the list of possibilities it never narrowed anything down, and second of all it seems most of the suggestions we got were "new popular" names like landon aiden luke.. names thats i wasnt very fond of anyway and third i noticed quickly how many of my family and friends werent fans of the names that were my favorite.. we ended up just goins to barnes and noble and buying a name book... if it helps here are the names at the top of our list.. anthony, ryan, andrew, justin, nicholas, and daniel.. the only name that isnt in the same category as those that we're considering is mason .. hope that helps

Are my votes. I would stick with an "older" name to match your other children along with something that has an option for shortening if they choose because the other children have that as welll.
Best Wishes!

Those 3 seem to go with your traditional-type of name theme you have.

added: reading below, I DO like Nathan and Nicholas as well. Also maybe Jeremy?

LOVE your current children's names.... ALWAYS appreciate being able to tell the sex of my children's friends by their names!!

I like to go w/ names w/ family ties. Do you know the names/middle names of any Great Grandparent? A Great uncle maybe?? OR what nationality is your heritage? Irish, Italian, etc. I love names 'from the old country' too!

My boys are Joshua and Brendan, so those are my favorite names. I love traditional names. Names that sound good with your boys' names are: Benjamin, Ethan, Ian, Jacob, Nathan, Nicholas, Zachary.

Have fun choosing!

Well, Alexander and Samuel are two of my three boys's middle names so on the the off chance you want the other one, it's Nathaniel. I would have used Nathaniel as a first name if we hadn't been suckered into the A first name theme that seems to be running on my husband's side of the family.

Check out nymbler.com. You can put in a couple of names that you like as suggestions, and the page will turn out more names that it considers similar. This helped me come up with a couple of names I hadn't considered before. My advice is not to do too many "inspiration" names at once, though. Perhaps put in "Samuel" and "Alexander," for example, and see what comes up, then try "Matthew" and some other name you've been thinking of. The more "inspiration" names you put in, the fewer choices will match as similar. Good luck!

I always liked to give my children meaning to their names, a reason why I picked it out, and all of mine carry a very special middle name... My daughter has both my husband and my middle name "LeKay" our middle son has my father's first name as his middle name, and our youngest son has my husband's dad's first name of his middle name.
Congratulations!
