I am going on a few trips with my kids soon and don't have a camera. I need advice on what are the best small cameras. I'm not sure what I want to spend, but want the best overall quality and value. Thanks so much.
Go to www.cnet.com. They can help you narrow down what you want in a camera as well as price options - it was fast and easy. They also have video actually showing, describing and reviewing cameras. I researched both their site and Consumer Reports and ended up with a Canon PowerShot SD1000. It's been great.
you know, if you're looking for a very user-friendly camera the kodak easy share is good. it's very simple and the quality of the pictures are great. i think the colors turn out pretty accurate. they are pretty cheap too.
I just bought myself a Canon Powershot A630 a few months back and I love it. I researched in Consumer Reports, at www.dpreview., and read the reviews at Amazon.com. Everything was very positive and I've been very happy with it. It takes good pictures, start up and shooting time is good, and it takes great videos very easily. It also has a screen that flips in and out of the camera which has been handy. PS - I'm a professional photographer, this is my own little point and shoot for trips to the zoo with the kids, etc where I didn't want to lug my big camera.
Canon sure shot SD500 (which is old now) they have 700-800 and I don't know what else. But, we purchased this a couple years ago and absolutely LOVE it! The prices have gone done a lot. Mine is an older version because they come up w/ new things all the time but my sister has the latest version and for what we use it, there's not that many more features. It also has a video camera to shoot little videos and it's easy! We did a lot of research and most stores recommended the canon. hope this helps.

I always go to Target or Walmart and find a name brand camera (like Cannon or Olympus)that has the qualities I want (easy, but with zoom etc). Then I find a mid-range one. You could search CONSUMER REPORTS, but I've found that the good name brands last and work well. If you don't buy an expensive one, you won't be upset in a few years if it breaks or you lose it...or if you are like me, you drop it one too many times. By then something newer and cheaper will be out.
You might consider getting each of your sons their own disposable camera for the trips. Kids love taking pictures and usually are much more INTO the trip when they have something to keep them interested. Just a thought!

Its neither small nor inexpensive, but I LOVE my Nikon D40. Costco has them on sale for $499.99 and they are worth every penny.
I have a Cannon Elph and LOVE IT! It takes great pictures and has great resolution. We got it at Best Buy early November and paid about $400 for the camera, the accessory pack, and the 3 year waranty. The camera fits in my purse, so I always have it at "that moment" to take the pictures. Mine is 8 megapixels, which means if I set it to best resolution, I could have the picture printed at least 10x13 without loosing any quality.
If you have the time, go to a few camera shops and tell them what you want. They will recomend certain features based on your intended use. DO NOT GO READY TO BUY! You can too easily be swindled into the first camera mentioned and it may not truly be the best camera for you.
Also- some of my criteria was it HAD to have a view finder (not just the screen) because at night the screen is pretty much useless. It also had to have image stablization and sequential shooting. You may have other features that are a must.
Enjoy your shopping! My next camera will be a DSLR (probably Cannon D40) for the planned photos.
Olympus make some great cameras
or else i suggest a ''cool pix'' ''sure shot'' or other nikon or cannon that is small with great zoom and lots of mega pixels!
