Hi Moms,
I am sooo bummed my camera of only 34 days broke. I barely dropped it 2 inches on playmat and lense is stuck. Cannon will send me a new one -- after they get old one. And I really dont want to be without taking pics for 2 weeks of my little one!!!
I am not really liking this camera...too delicate etc. I have had 2 Elfs in the past & loved them.
So this one is the canon powershot SD1400 is digital elf.
My question is does anyone have a new canon that they really love?
Thanks

What can I do next?

I've been researching cameras lately and I know that the Canon Rebel gets great reviews. It's not a small, point & shoot type of camera but it's supposed to be much faster at taking pics (which is the most important thing to me, having small children). It's pricier, but like you, I haven't had good luck with cameras lately so I want one that will last me a long time and that I will love. I suggest that once you find one you want get on Amazon and read the reviews on it. I've learned so much from doing this, it really helps when making decisions on ANY purchase.

Hi M.,
I don't have a Cannon but I have the Nikon D40 digital SLR. I absolutely love it. I even dropped it onto my concrete patio floor and it didn't faze the camera. It takes beautiful pictures. My husband bought it for me for Mother's Day 2007 and it's still an excellent camera. Good luck in your decision, but maybe take a look at the Nikon too.

after my experience w/ cannon I will never buy another one. Everyone told me get a cannon get a cannon so I did and it broke in a little over a year. My kodak lasted forever 7 years before it broke. This time I got a nikon and I love it. It takes wonderful pics and its fast much faster then my cannon was. Olympus cameras are very durable shockproof and water proof.

I have a great Olympus and I LOVE it.......it takes great pics, has lots of features, and has been around for a few years now.........

HP also makes good digital cameras, so you might look at them as well, but I vote for Olympus.

Take care.

We have an Olympus and a Nikon Coolpix. I would never buy a Nikon again either. Our Nikon was dropped just like your Canon was and we wound up with a lens problem too. Luckily it was still under warentee, so we had to send it to the company and they "fixed" it for free. It worked fine the first week. Then for no reason the lens started getting stuck again with a "lens error." We have to take the batteries out and put them back in to get the lens to close and solve the "lens error" problem.

The Olympus' only problem is that it's one with out a mic., so the videos are silent movies. Otherwise, it's a good little camera. Both cameras are slow shooters when taking pictures. What I don't like about the Olympus is that it only takes Olympus memory cards, which are very expensive. The Nikon uses a typical SD card.

I'm curious about the Fuji cameras. I had a 35mm and that thing works no matter what. It was dropped on a hard wood floor, so I have the battery compartment taped shut and it still works well. I'd like to get a Fuji digital camera, which one of my friends swears by. She loves all Fujis. I've noticed they have a water proof one as well and they look cool.

I have my second Elph, and I also have a Rebel (plus another 2 cameras I can't stand - an olympus & a casio). I have so many, not because they broke, but the mega pixels have improved so much. I just got the Powershot SD3500 IS. I love it!. It fits in my pocket, a touch screen on back, and I love the prints! And I haven't missed many shots. Some of the cameras had such a delay in taking the picture (no matter the settings). It has great quality at 14 megapixels, though the Rebel has much better depth in the photo (hence the price difference).
