I recently switched to a new hair stylist after my other one moved out of state. Well the new one does a great job but this last appointment I was completely shocked when I got the total cost of my appointment. It was $75 more then my last visit which was $150 dollars. I got a partial highlight and a light trim so there is no way it should have cost that much. She charged me extra for flat ironing and a conditioning treatment which I never requested and which I felt was very deceiving. Anyway, even though the stylist did a great job and we seemed to get along great, I feel she was being sneaky by adding these extras without telling me so needless to say, I am now looking for a new stylist and salon that isn't overpriced and sneaky. Can anyone recommend someone that they personally like that is reasonably priced in the West Valley? I live in Goodyear but don't mind traveling up to 20 miles for a good salon/stylist. I am not cheap by all means but I truly feel like spending $260 after tip for a partial highlight and trim is out of control. I am a SAHM and it just about killed me having to tell the hubby how much my hair appointment cost.

This may be too far out of your way, but I have to recommend her, anyway. Amina Call is at a salon called Ide Mania in Phoenix. She is outstanding!! I have been going to her for years. I started going to her when I lived in Tempe. I still go to her and I travel from Flagstaff to do so. My husband, who is very very picky, also travels to her. She is not only very talented, but also a genuinely good person. I know this seems like a lot of praise for a "hair stylist", but I am serious she is great.

I know what you mean. I am used to going to Aveda salons and it was killing me to spend a car payment on my hair! I actually live in Laveen and know of a great stylist who works out of her home. She converted one bay of their garage into a salon and it is super cute! The best thing is you can bring your kids if you need to. (though I prefer not to!) She is very reasonably priced. I think you might pay $65-75 for cut, highlights, and blow-dry. Her name is Christiane Georges (pronounced Kristiani) and her number is ###-###-####. I believe she is trying to get on a regular schedule where she only books on M,W,F so that she can have some days to herself but call her and find out. BTW, I am very picky! I have been through a few stylists myself in search of someone who could give me what I want. I usually take a picture in of a cut or color I like. Hope this helps!

She is awesome! I have been with her for over 10 years and wouldn't go anywere else. I get highlights and a trim every time I go and I pay in the low $100's (with tip) every time. Call Gina Schwartz. She has a salon in her home (and you can bring kids if you need to). You never have to wait for her to finish with anyone else because she books her appointments with room to spare. She has been doing my hair now for 3 years and she is way more reasonable!!
