Need a Good/inexpensive Breastpump

I'm looking to replace my breastpump. It is a handpump by Avent. It works OK, but I want something that is battery or electric. I also need something that is inexpensive (hopefully between $50-100). I won't be needing it for too much longer. Thanks.

What can I do next?

It's more than what you wanted to spend.....but I went to the Medela site and found the following link.

http://www.medelabreastpumps.com/index.html

I just received my Advanced pump in a backpack and it cost less than the original. I believe the original sells through them for about 200.00.

Hope this helps....even though it's a little late.

I had bought a pump. It is able to be plugged in or runs on batteries. I tried to use it once, and then to make a long story short, gave up on bfing altogether, so I had no need for the pump. It is a parent's choice, retailed for just under $50 at babies 'r us. I am planning to sell it on ebay, I just haven't done it yet. If you were interested it might be cheaper than trying a brand new one. Just email me if you want more info.

The most inexpensive electric pump I could find was the Lansinoh pump. I was only looking at double pumps though, you may be able to find a single cheaper. The Lansinoh pump has been great and it was just under $150.00 at Wal-Mart. I have been using mine 8 months now with no troubles.

Try renting one from your local hospital. It's less expensive than buying one and they have better products. Much less expensive!!! Also, the plastic parts are sterile and have never been used. They are safe and effective. Good luck and great work!!!

Hi K.
I breast feed my son for 14 months. I purchased a Pump In Style. I realize this is alot more than you are able to spend. But I just wanted to let you know that I sold mine on e-bay for a fraction of what I bought it for. It was like brand new because I was alway breast feeding. I rarely used the pump but it was nice to have around just in case.

My only suggestion would be to purchase the cups that you put on your breast and the clear cords. (I'm sorry I know that this is not the right names for them but my mind has drawn a blank)

When I sold it I included alot of extras. I just wanted everything gone. I gave all of the milk storage bottles, new milk storage bags, microwave steralizing bags, new cover for when you are breast feeding in public and a few other things.

I also wanted to tell you that my friend was able to get WIC. When she went back to work they provided her with a free brand new double electric breast pump. I'm not sure if you qualify but I just thought I would let you know.

Good Luck

Well, if you are willing to get a used pump try looking on e-bay. You can get Madela pumps from people you have used them just a few times for 100.00 or less. They often include lots of extras. If you don't want to use the breast shields they give you a starter kit is about 20.00. Good luck!

I've had two medela mini electric pumps (about $65 - $70). It can run on batteries or with a cord. It's not for every day, heavy duty use, but ideal for time to time. The other Mom who is selling her pump has a great pump - I borrowed one of those from my friend. Good luck.

I rented mine from Mt. Carmel East where I gave birth to my son, it was great. I think some insurances may even cover it. If you plan to have more children it may be a good idea to invest in one. Renting was a nice option because you don't have to worry about what to do with it when you are finished. Good Luck!!

Hi K.,
I used an Evenflo electric pump. It was less than $50 at Target! It worked great for the first few months, but started to lose suction after that. However, if you only need it for a little while, this might be a good buy.

Congrats on your baby and the decision to breastfeed!

All the best,
Katheryn

You've probable heard a lot already so I'll make this quick. Unless you are pumpimg less then once a day don't go cheap with the pump. It will cost you more in the end. I went through several pumps and finally spent the good money and bought a Meade $250 pump. I'm on my second kid and it's still working. If i were looking to find a use one today I would try ebay. You can buy the tubes, cones, and collection bottles online too. I had to buy a few replacement pieces with the second. Oh why you should go cheap is I burnt the motor out on two pumps in the $150 range pumping once a day. Both in less then 5 weeks.
