The Williams Syndrome Association is in Troy Michigan.
They can probably answer all your questions,
perhaps also give you some appropriate referrals to follow up.

I've also included a url
so you can read some information on Williams Syndrome.

Keep going to the doctor;s/ Call them when they don't call you. Ask them for a referral to Detroit Children's. This is your baby and you have every right to stand up for him.
I'm so sorry he is sick. I have no advice but to keep being the squeaky wheel with your doctors.

Have his thyroid and parathyroid been checked? If they are overactive it can cause hypercalcemia and poor weight gain. Is they high calcium the only reason the dr thinks williams syndrome? There are a lot of other symptoms that go along with it. I'm sorry your son has an underlying medical issue going on but my son like another poster was also small at a year he weighed 16 lbs.

well i kinda feel your pain on this.My son is 20 months and weighs 21lbs and is 30inches...He weighed a lil over 8lbs when he was born.He made it to 16lbs about 7months and was stuck there untill about 14months.They just said he was a lil guy.But if they are you telling you that something is wrong and you honestly feel like something is wrong, then hit every doctor up if it makes you feel better. You as a mom know your son better than some doctor who sees him for maybe 15min every so often.Go to another primary doc,GI,anything that will put you at peace to know that he is going to be ok.Good luck and I hope everything works out

Williams Syndrome is an uncommon disorder, and there is no cure for it. The person who has been born with it has to live with it. But they should be treated with love and care, and considered 'special', and not unfortunate or handicapped.

This is a very frustrating problem for a parent. My son was diagnosed with failure to thrive as an infant at a year old he was eleven pounds. It took us from birth (because I knew something was not right) until he was three years old to find out that he had celiac. We were in and out of childrens hospitals several times a month for three years. He was not absorbing any nutrients due to the celiac. We heard alot of possable diagnoses that were rather scary.Good luck and remeber you are the best advicate for your child. My child is now 18 years old still skinney but doing well.

Get a second opinion. And a third if you need to. Does your son have any food allergies? My son was 9 months old and barely weighed 10 pounds because everything he ate after breastfeeding he threw back up. His little body wasn't getting any nutrients! We went to the gastroenterologist, did blood work, did upper GI work, then FINALLY, after almost a whole month of hell, found out he was allergic to EVERYTHING we were giving him.

Then, back to square one, introducing one new food a day, wait to see if there was a reaction, then back to square one. I don't know anything about Williams Syndrome, but you really should get another opinion, or confirmation if that is really what is causing this. Hope you get answers soon.

Just another avenue to consider...there is a group of chiropractor/clinical nutritionists in Grosse Pointe whio deal with things like this all the time. Your son could have an allergy that is blocking his little system from absorbing the nutrients he IS ingesting. They are amazing people!! go to www.ahccenter.com and check out the website. They have healed lots of cases like this. Good luck and please let me know if you go and how it went.

I'm so sorry. Our baby was also 14 lbs at 9 months. There was nothing wrong with her except that she was petite, very active and a light eater. Now, at almost 14 months, she's 18 pounds. I know it might not help to hear that since your baby has an underlying medical reason for his weight issue; I just wanted you to know you're not alone in having a 14 lb baby at this age. You are your child's best advocate and if it were me, I'd be taking him straight to Children's Hospital to find out definitively what the problem is.

Hang in there.
