I have a 3 week old daughter and she began having some exposdes to which she loses her breathe and milk will come out of her nose and mouth. She was recently admitted to the hospital there she was diagnosed with "Acid Reflux". I been doing some reseach on the situation and have found that the doctor's from all over the world can actully be misdiagnosing her. I found in the research that she can actually be having a seizure. I s there anyone who's been in my situtation? I need some good advice.

What can I do next?

Step awaaaay from the internet. Even the most common symptoms will come up as rabies or cancer. Your doctor knows what's going on; if you're still uncomfortable, get a second opinion. Do NOT try to self diagnose, you're only going to drive yourself crazy sweetie!! Send me a message if you'd like some more suggestions on how to help the reflux. Hope your little one is feeling better :)

The reason why doctors are saying it reflux is because years ago it was over looked. All babies have it just some is worse than others. My son had constant ear and nose infections until we put him on previcid and my new baby has sinus congestion and has been getting better after 3 months and 1 month of being on acid reflux medicine. If you read about acid reflux, it can cause an enormous amount of problems including wheezing. So I would for sure give your baby the medicine and see if it works. It usually takes about 3 weeks to see results. Or you can ask to take her to a GI docotr and she what they say. Good luck!!

They can put your baby on acid medicine. I would do that. If it improves, then you know that was the problem. I found my daughter had to change formula also. However, it's not good to keep switching formulas. I would ask about the Good Start formula because the make-up of the formula is different. One of my friends had an issue where her child wasn't able to tolerate the proteins in the other general formulas.

Good luck,

my sister had seizures as a baby and well into her adulthood and she never had anything like this from having seizures. usually with a seizure a baby will not pass fluid through their nose and mouth(vomiting/spitting up) I would look into the cleft palate thing like someone else mentioned because with that there can be a whole in the back of the roof of the mouth and liquids can come up through there and out the nose and it causes breathing difficulties in babies( I know someone who's child has this) and it also could be the acid reflux babies now adays seem to get this alot.acid reflux can cause breathing problems.I would say have the dr prescribe something for this and go from there if your baby is still having problems have them check for something else.If it was a seizure you would know as a seizure in a baby is scary some stare, some jerk and shake, their eyes can roll back, they can stiffen up,etc

I went through this with my daughter. I was also skeptical. It seemed like my doctor was blaming everything on reflux as if it could not have been something else. But I did what the doctor said (giving meds, lots of burping, etc.) and it seemed to help so I went with it. She grew out of it and has no issues with it now that I know of. I would go with what your doctor is telling you and if the problem continues she needs to be re diagnosed. Or get an opnion of another doctor. I did that as well. Good luck to you and your baby! I know it can be stressful so stay on your doctor until you find a solution that works!

My nephew, who is now 23, had something similar happen to him. He would actually power puke across the room, stiffen up when crying & cried all the time. My sister kept insisting something was wrong, they kept acting as if she were over reacting. Finally at 4 months old the doctor saw first hand his puking skills and had him tested. Turned out that where the esphogus meets the stomach there was a hole, where that had not completely closed. He said it was not uncommon and unless Taylor was failing to thrive he would outgrow it w/in a year. The boy was 2 weeks premature and weight 9.4 pounds. He was huge. SO...they had to strap him in his crib at night and lay him on on inclined foam rubber. As long as they didn't lay him down flat after eating he was fine.

He drank Donogel (think that's right) for a long time because of the acid reflux. And had a very sensitive gag reflex, but he outgrew it and never required surgery.

SO I say all that to say, you're doctor probably is right. You can always approach him with questions about possible seizures, but honey the internet can be a hard place to navigate when looking for medical help. We can almost match our symptoms to all manner of deadly disease/conditions. I would listen to your doctor, he has seen her in person and knows what he is doing. If she continues, then talk to him about your research, but as she was in the hospital, I would feel confident that had she'd been having seizures, they would've caught that.

Best of luck to you, it's hard when our babies are sick.

My daughter is 6 weeks old and she throws up everything AT LEAST once a day. As long as your little girl is still having lots of dirty diapers then she should be fine. My DD is on Zantac and I give it to her twice a day. As long as I remember to give it to her before I feed her in the morning and at night then she does a lot better. Good luck, I know it's scary and frustrating but it is common.
