Hi, we are going on a long trip in the car and I would like to get some CD's for the trip. My granddaughter is 2 and I would like to have some happy, clap along music as well as some quiet peaceful music to relax her. Thanks for any and all suggestions!

What can I do next?

"They Might Be Giants" and "Trout Fishing in America" have some great kids music.
There is a great lullaby CD with a variety of artists that by kids loved and so did I: http://www.amazon.com/Lullaby-Collection-Various-Artists/...

Try looking for Disney soundtracks... my daughter loves music from the Lion King. At my local WalMart, they have a section in the cd department devoted to children's music, from relaxing music to upbeat music. Have fun!

I am almost ashamed to report that my 2 1/2 year old loves Lady Gaga. However she has a very well rounded musical interest everything from "the wheels on the bus" to George Strait's "Baby Blue." For relaxation she likes Regina Spektor, Enya, etc. I know that not all these are geared toward children, however, since she enjoys them (even tries to sing along) and I'm not going to argue =)

I think as adults we think children need children music, but I find there are several artists and music that is created for the masses and that includes our LOs.

Hi D.! We LOVE Philadelphia Chickens, a CD by author Sandra Boynton. I seem to never get sick of the songs, although a couple of songs irritate the stuffing out of me! :)

Happy road trip!

Hi there.

My son used to love the Wiggles and Laurie Burkner?

My only suggestions/recommendation is... please becareful on the quiet peaceful music for her. Unless she is going to use headphones, don't make it to quiet and peaceful for the CAR ride... If you are driving or someone else... they may find it a bit peaceful too... we don't need anyone falling asleep at the wheel. :)
Good luck and have fun!

Our daughter particularly likes stuff from the Car Seat Baby CD line but she also loves our music as well. My husband created a playlist of songs from the Beatles and various other adult artists that were cuss word free and not singing about anything inappropriate because I have to tell you, riding in the car for a long time listening to the kid music for hours will slowly drive you insane.

Car seat baby on amazon (happy clap along songs):

Lullaby Baby for those quiet moments:

Our kids love the "They Might be Giants" "Here come the 1-2-3's" CD. Apparently they have an A-B-C one, too. We haven't gotten it.

Walmart and Target both have great selections that you can select from. Just about any of them are good with well-known kids songs.
