Mountain View Hospital Opinion

I am a pregnant with my first child and concerned about the hospital my doctor is having me induced at. I wanted to go to Summerlin based off what I have heard few people say, but my doctor has scheduled it at Mountain View. Has anyone had a baby here? I am concerned that Mountain View is not as good of a hospital to give birth at. I completed my childcare education class at Summerlin and am now familiar with that hospital, so I am nervous to go to Mountain View. Has anyone had a baby here and were their experiences good?

What can I do next?

I had my first child at MTN View (now 4yrs old) and was saddened I wasn't able to deliver my second there. The staff is really nice and so are the rooms. If you have time, take the tour.

I had my son at Summerlin and coming from Boise Idaho where I loved the hospital I was not happy with Summerlin. There is no nursery for you to have your baby go, they forgot to give me dinner on the day I was checked in. I was there from noon until I had my husband finally go get me something to eat at 9 pm. Once they had me hooked up to induce I would call to be unplugged so I could go to the bathroom nobody came so after about 20 minutes my husband just unplugged me to help me to the bathroom. When I was in labor I dilated from 5 to 10 in 20 minutes with the baby on his way out and they werent ready for me. (in Idaho they were set up and ready to go all 20 hours of my lbor and delivery) My Dr had went to lunch and they had to find a Dr while I held the baby against the contractions, they didnt even have a nurse in there just in case. My husband was joking do we get charged if I deliver. Needless to say a Dr finally got in there and the baby was out in one push but I will not go back there. I wish my Dr delivered at St Rose but we have a choice for this baby of Mountain View or Valley. It will depend on where we end up renting but I had heard good things about Mountain View.

I have three friends who gave birth at mountain view, and had nothing but good things to say. I, on the otherhand, had my daughter at summerlin, and was very displeased. There is no nursery, and the night nurses seemed put out when I needed anything. I would tour mountain view, just for the heck of it, before you decide.

Hi K.,
I had my first child at Mt. View and all I can say is that it was great! My nurses were awesome, I had pre eclampsia, and everything was fine. My friend also delievered there and had no complaints. This time I will be delivering out of Summerlin, because I changed doctors and he is out of there. Otherwise I would go back to Mt. View. In the end go to the hospital where you feel most comfortable.

Hi K. :) I have not had a baby at Mtn View, but I am an EMT here in Las Vegas and have had several experiences with Mtn View. just from taking other expecting mothers in there I can tell you that I have never had a BAD expererience with any nurse or any other member of the staff there :) they also offer tours of the facility. it might help you feel more confortable if you were to try one of those first. You will get to meet some of the staff and go in all the rooms and stuff. Good luck with the new baby!!

Contrary to the other responses, one of my close friends from work gave birth to her little boy at Mtn.View hospital and she told me that she had a TERRIBLE experience there and that she would NEVER again seek medical help at that hospital. I can tell you I have not heard much about Summerlin Hospital; however, for a time my pediatrician worked out of the medical offices and it always seemed nice. I on the other hand delivered at St. Rose, (sienna campus) in Henderson and I had an amazing experience with their staff, the clenliness, and the nice private rooms...It was wonderful! St.Rose also has a new hospital off of Durango and 215 which I hear is very nice! Good luck, trust your gut instinct! :)

I would tell your doctor that you aren't comfortable going to Mountain View. AS long as your doc can deliver at Summerlin there is no reason that you shouldn't be able to choose your own hospital.
