I used to go to Galveston every year up until about 4 years ago, and have been to Moody Gardens many times, but have never stayed there. We've always loved the aquarium, but the reviews sound like it may have gone downhill in recent years. I don't like humidity or butterflies, so I haven't been to the rain forest pyramid. My children outgrew Palm Beach, but it was fabulous for young children! Your children are the perfect ages for it.

I do have a friend who has stayed at Moody Gardens, and she said that the rooms were nice when it first opened, but the last time she stayed there the rooms were really getting run down. She also said not to eat there.

For years, we stayed at Islander East (condos). We only picked one once that wasn't very nice, and when we asked to be moved they moved us right away. The pool isn't very nice; it's very small, but the condo is right on the beach. You don't have to walk across the street or anything. Also, they're big, and they have small kitchens. We like that, especially when travelling with children. It's also nice to have separate bedrooms. We haven't been to Galveston since the last big hurricane, so I don't know how Islander East fared.

Have a great vacation!
