For a first birthday, you might want to consider something like a community center or a pavilion at a local park (near a playground). Generally there's a lot of space and if you had it early in the day a park wouldn't be too hot. That way you can bring whatever you want, and bigger kids have space to run and play.

It's so easy for little kids to be overwhelmed by the attention and all the people at a party -- even if it's all family -- they can't really understand that it's for them! I bet if you have some helium balloons, and ice cream, that's all she really needs to make it a party. (At my kids' parties, they seem to have the best fun after most guests have left, and they can play with just a few people and the balloons.)

Pump It Up is really geared toward older kids (it's pretty obnoxious too), and the FW Museum of Science and History is closed now for re-building. Some friends have told me that The Science Place in Dallas is good for kids' parties, so you might check there if you really like that idea!

Have fun, whatever you decide to do -- and take tons of pictures to make the party last longer!

For my daughters first birthday we did just a small party at our house with just family and it was really low key. Then for her second birthday party we did Pump it Up, It was okay because we had alot of older kids so they had fun, but my 2 year old wouldn't do the slides like the bigger kids so she didn't have much fun. Pump it Up is nice that you can have up to 25 kids and you are in the room by yourself, but every party I have been to there someone is always crying because they hurt themself in some way.

For my daughters 3rd birthday we did Incredible Pizza in Euless, this place is fun for kids of all ages because they have the big gameroom with go carts, putt putt and bowling, plus games and the smaller area for the little kids, that includes a bounce house, and some little riding things. I would recommend not doing a party on Saturday! They are crazy in there. You can do a walk in party and it is much cheaper than booking a party. The problem with this party is that I was stressed chasing kids and making sure everyone was taken care of that I did not get to enjoy any of our guest, or the party.

Since my Daughter 3rd birthday I have started my own business to make birthday parties less stressful for the parents and alot of fun for everyone at the party. We do theme birthday parties, including princess tea parties, make a friend(which is like build a bear), and much more.

We also have bounce houses that we rent out if you would like to have a party at your house and keep the kids entertained.

If you do Pump it Up you may want to try Pump It Up Jr. It looks like it caters to the under 5 crowd better. Plus you can invite more kids (if you meant 25 kids)for one price.

at those ages, chuck e. cheese is a bit too much in my opinion. i have a 4 yr old who spazzed last summer over the dancing rat. consider that before you plan a big party. at these ages, home parties have always worked best for me. you could still do some fun educational games. local parks are also great resources. no rental fees and great playgrounds!

as for the pump it up thing, i've been dragged to it way too many times now for my liking thanks to my son's preschool friends' parties. it's noisy and overrated if you ask me!

CEC is difficult with smaller kids, because you HAVE to stay with them. There's no social time for the parents/guests. And there are so many kids there, that younger kids may get overwhelmed and stressed out instead.

I would opt for something more intimate, if possible. I haven't been to Pump it Up, so, I have no opinion. lol But, whatever, you choose, I hope you have a great time. Oh, and designate someone who takes nice pics to be the photographer. That way, you can be in them, too. :D
