I am a single, working mother who is extremely interested in incorporating work with postpartum mothers into my career. I feel there is a huge need for these services for women. I would also like to incorporate postpartum doula services and I feel very strongly about getting the proper training and becoming certified. If anyone has used a postpartum doula and could offer feedback about how helpful these services are and what you liked best, that would be really great. I also would love any information that anyone has regarding any trainings or board certifications that you know about. Thanks for the input and support!

Hi S.,

I am an LCSW who specializes in working with women and families with Post Partum Depression. I would recommend that you contact PSI (postpartuminternational.com) to find information, as well as beyondtheblues.com. There are lots of links to services, resources, etc., and I would recommend this to any mom who is coping with PPD. They will connect you with people and services in your area.

I used postpartum doula service for a month and it had been a great experience. She taught me lots of things I would never know otherwise. She taught me how to handle, bathe, and breastfeed my newborn and gave advices on many other things. Often young mothers don't know anything about babies so it is helpful to have somebody confident and knowledgeable around.
Good luck in finding more info on the training.
