Hi Everyone. I am in need of some lunchbox ideas for my 22 month old. She attends Moms Day Out twice a week and all I can ever think to pack her is a Lunchable. She doesnt like sandwiches and really isnt into raw veggies either. She normally gets a lunchable, some kind of fruit ( she looooves fruit) and a desert of some type. I know she is probably tired of the same thing every week, but I am at a loss of what else to pack her. Oh, and the food cannot be something that has to be warmed, and it has to be easy for her to eat on her own. Any Ideas or recipes you have would be great. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the ideas Everyone. After reading your responses I came up with some more ideas of my own....we have tried pasta salad and top ramen noodles...and they were both a hit. The teachers even asked if I would make them some pasta salad cause it looked so good when my daughter took it. Thanks again for all of your ideas!

I probably wouldn't worry about the same thing to eat twice a week. I have an 11, 14, and 16 yo and they have very different tastes but they have each carried the same lunch every day for years. When I have tried to change it up they won't eat it. Just like kids like to watch the same movie over and over, I think eating the same thing is comforting to them.

Hey! I have a little boy who is 27 months old now. He loves eatting fruit too. Sometimes I make him a fruit "pizza". You make it by laying cresent rolls flat on a cookie sheet (or for a sweeter taste, sugar cookie dough) and you bake that by itself then let cool, then you spread cream cheese on it and lay slices of strawberry and kiwi, etc. You can cut it into big "slices" to serve a piece each different day. Also try grahm crackers and p.b. and you can even add jelly to be kinda like a sandwich but with a twist. How about those little gerber baby meals that they eat with their fingers? They also make mock chips from veggies and fruit in the health food section of the store, you could give her a few of those in a baggie. Well, I guess that I'm outta ideas! Good luck!

Does she like tortillas? You could roll up a piece of meat or cheese in the tortilla and then roll it up. You could then cut them widthwise and she might find the spirals fun to eat.
or maybe cold pizza? If she loves fruit why not give her apple wedges and a little peanut butter to dip them in. The PB is protein. Peanut butter and raisins in the wrap might be fun. You could even wrap the apples in with them. Does she like eggs? You could give her a hard boiled egg--already peeled.

Lunch doesn't have to be a square meal. My kids have never eaten a square meal for lunch. I don' think they would know what to do with it if they got it! lol! Mostly they eat what other moms would call snack foods, and we call this lunch. Like yogurt and a banana. Some days they're prefectly happy with a box of raisins for lunch. Other days it's just fruit - an apple, or fresh pineapple, or something like that. Sometimes it's green beans and that's it (they LOVE bean-beans!). For 5 months straight they ate scrambled eggs every single day.

My point is, when she gets tired of it she'll let you know. Until then, don't worry about it. If you want to mix it up, try mixing up one thing at a time, like leave the lunchables and trade the dessert for the yogurt, or swap out the type of fruit. But I wouldn't worry about it until she stops eating it. Go with what works for now.

Hi A., my son goes to moms day out 4 days a week, so I know the problem that you're having. My son is 4, so I don't know if the things I do for him would work for your dd, but here's some things I do for him. Sometimes I do mac n chesse..I fix it in the morning, and put it in a bowl with a spoon. In his lunch box, it won't get cold, so it doesn't have to be warmed. He loooves mac n cheese. He likes sandwhiches, so sometimes we do that. He also looooves corn dogs, so sometimes, I'll cook them in the morning, and wrap them in foil so they don't get cold either (again, they don't have to be warmed) and corn dogs are super easy for them to eat on their own. You can do the same with a small frozen pizza, but when I've done that he complains that it's "floppy" by the time he gets to eat lunch, so you may not want to try that. My son also Looooves the rolly polly sandwhiches (you can get them frozen at sams) they're easy, and don't really look, or taste for that matter, like a regular sammy. If she doesn't like "made from home" sammy's, you might want to try the uncrustables. My son likes those much better than made from home ones, and with those, you just grab one out of the freezer and stick it in the lunchbox. Hope this helps some. I know this is a challenge. I had to call and ask my mother for ideas:D
