Looking for Window Tinting Place

Hi,
To make a more comfortable ride for my baby girl, I need to have my car windows tinted. Can anyone suggest a high quality, but reasonably priced establishment that will do this? I thought this would be a good place to start, since it's probable that other Moms have had this done to their vehicles as well.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I was surprised that I got advice about why NOT to tint the windows and the restrictions and laws about window tint, all of which I am already aware, but thanks anyway for the concern. : ) I also got a few useful responses to my question as to where to go to get it done. I'm glad I posted the question here, and ultimately got the answers I was looking for - Thanks to all! I'm getting it done at Ztech in Naperville. I've had undercoating done before at Ziebart, and didn't realize that they switched names (or did tint!). They've been in business for a long time, they're family owned, they'll do it while I wait, and they're really reasonable priced with a lifetime warranty. I've seen they're work, and I'm certain I'll be please with the results (if not - I'll be sure to edit my post : ) I'm also getting the interior detailed there - how exciting!

You need to be careful with window tinting b/c each town in the chicagoland are has their own restrictions. From personal experience, I would suggest getting the lightest grade of tint available, otherwise you may end up getting some tickets! The best place I know of is called "Start Me Up" and they are located near 63Rd & Cicero right by Midway airport.

I don't know, but do those sucker thingy's you hang on the window work? or do they fall off? I want to let you know there are laws against certain dark shades of tint. I heard a story that if you have too dark a tint on your window, no matter where it is, (front seat tinted windows are illegal) and you drive through Berwyn or Cicero they could even impound your car and you'll never it back. how awefull.
I am also a mom of almost 7 month old Rosella. I have extra pool passes to Westchester pool which closes labor day. If you would like some, contact me.

Hi J.,

It is funny that you should ask about window tinting because I am on my way right now to get it done. The place is called Mike's Tint Shop and he is on the east side of the city (near Indiana). It is only costing me $130 for all five windows in our Camary. His address is 10506 S Avenue B
Chicago, IL 60617 and the phone number is ###-###-####. Two of my sisters had their cars done there and were extremely happy with his service. Hope this helps.

Any auto glass place should be able to tint your windows. You can have them tinted for UV protection that way your baby gets the sun but is protected against harmful rays. It is not really dark but gives some protection against the brightness. My van has it from the maker but I know that it is offered to be added.

Somehow I doubt that MANY moms have had their windows tinted for the comfort of their baby. We don't have our front or side windows tinted for us and we drive the vechicle. Children need to get use to the sun besides the fact that it's healthy for them to get some sunshine. Also, be careful of the color of the stain. It's against the law to do them dark because police can't "see in" you car. A heavy ticket follows plus possible search and seizure of the car when warrented. Tinted windows are however allowed in the overly sunny states like Arizona and Texas. That's because of the extreme heat factor of 115 degree weather. You can buy the saran type darkeners that you peel and install yourself at auto shops.

I have gotten a few cars done. It used to be ziebart but has changed to ztech. I had one car done when it was ziebart and another one once it changed over to ztech. They did a great job. Here's the link.

***I wanted to add that is is ILLEGAL to put window tint in the front of your vehicle and it is LEGAL to put tint on the back ones only. If you get your back windows done, which is what I believe you were inquiring about, it's LEGAL.
