I am looking for summer activities for my daughter. Ordinarily she stays with her grandmother during summer months, but since she's getting older she prefers to stay here in Dallas as posed to go to the the countryside of Arkansas. <smile> Anyhow...I know it's rather early to start looking since this year isn't yet complete. But I am looking for something such as swimming lessons/teams, dance lessons, and drama lessons, for my daughter to be involved in during the day so that she's not bored and so that she can broaden her horizons. However, I'm not looking for a camp for her to be gone all summer...rather something that it's somewhat like school where I drop her off when I'm on my way to work, and pick her up on my way home. If anyone knows anything available, reputable, and not too pricey, please let me know. I truly appreciate it!
Mainly looking for swimming, drama lessons, dancing, gymnastics, and hopefully cheerleading lessons.

What can I do next?

The Coppell Aquatic Center on 234 Parkway Blvd. has a swimming camp called Camp Do it All that sounds perfect for you. http://www.ci.coppell.tx.us/c2/content.nsf/site/3%3bDepar...

I have sent my 13 year old there with some of the neighbor kids and they loved it. Also, the Y has Camp Grady Spruce.

You should look into Oak Point Recreation Center. They have many inexpensive activities. They come out with a Leisure Catalog for classes every couple of months.

Hey there. There are a ton of summer camps for your daughter available in Dallas. For theater I've heard that DCT is great (dallas childrens theatre). Dancing - Powerhouse off of Inwood is great. My 10 yr old daughter loved that place. They have a ton of options and summer camps. Gymanstics - WOGA is the place to go and they have several locations. We live in McKinney now so if you need options outside of Dallas let me know. My 10 yr old also goes away for weekly Christian Camp during the summer so if thats an option you want to hear about more email me. Good luck.

I work for an acting coach that does summer camps for kids. She is located in Addison. Camps are usually a week at a time for a few hours a day. All the kids absolutely adore her, and she is very talented. Her summer schedule isn't up yet, but I know she would love to talk to you. Tell her J. refered you. Check out her web site for more info about her and her style www.harttandsoul.com

We just joined our local YMCA. They have really great programs for all ages. And if you cannot afford the dues you can apply for financial aid.
Good Luck!!

My daughter just turned 12 this week. Last summer she went to a babysitting camp at the Russell Creek Y and got CPR certified. She loved that camp. She enjoys being a "mom's helper" for some neighborhood moms and making a little extra $.

Central Market in Plano has a cooking camp and she plans to go there this summer. She LOVES to cook.
