Looking for Psychotherapist Specializing in PTSD on Westside

I'm not ready to go into details surrounding the situation, but I need a referral to a good psychologist who would be willing to provide both individual and couples counseling. Also maybe a hypnotist who could help draw out memories from one's subconscious thought in an effort to piece together this challenge. We just want to start the healing process, for the sake of two very special kids.

What can I do next?

A., I truly understand how you are feeling. It is so hard when you are trying to be the best MAMA and wife you can be and are haunted by traumatic memories of the past. It feels like the whole world is caving in on you and it's heartbreaking. Please know that my only concern with going to a psychologist/therapist is that they may try to lead you in the direction of medication rather than get to the root of what's causing you to feel the way you do. I definitely know from personal experience psych medications do more harm than good and that, in fact, there are many natural solutions that can actually help with what you are going through.

I was very fortunate that when I was suffered very similar feelings many years ago a very good friend of mine recommended DIANETICS (http://www.dianetics.org/) to me. WOW! That was the magic that helped me deal with my trauma naturally and get me back to feeling like my cheerful self. I love that with DIANETICS no one evaluates you or tries to drug you. It's truly about you. You can always watch the DIANETICS video at: http://www.dianetics.org/#/videos.

I'd also recommend checking out 2 organizations validating why going the natural route is best for you and your family:

http://www.labelmesane.com/

You'll also find some amazing data regarding alternatives at:

I send this data with love. I know from personal experience the heartbreak of anxiety, depression and PTSD and how it truly affects not just the person but also everyone around him/her, and I also know that it is so worth it to give Dianetics a chance.

Please free to contact me at: (323) 906~2784 or via e~mail me at ____@____.com.

I'd love to help you however I can.

With love,
L. (MAMA to 17 month old Dylan Orion....29 September 2007) : )))

Hi, A.,

I highly recommend my psychotherapist, Swati Desai, PhD, of Akasha Center. I was referred to her by my sister, who is a clinical psychologist in San Diego. (By the way, I am a graduate psychology student, so I am somewhat familiar with different types of therapy.) I have had thirty therapists(that's not an exaggeration) in the last twenty years. Swati Desai is the first therapist I've met that I think is great. She understands psychological theories and psychotherapeutic techniques much more deeply than the average therapist, and she recalls more of their components than the average therapist. She seems extremely intelligent, overall. Like the majority of therapists I've met, she's empathetic. She is certified in EMDR, which is an appropriate treatment for PTSD.

Swati Desai can be reached at ###-###-#### or ____@____.com works in Santa Monica.

My husband and I are going through individual and couples counseling to try to address some problems for which there are no easy answers. I wish you the best of luck.

Hi A., I know you asked for a therapist, but I wanted to suggested to you an alternative therapy that does not involve so much talking and reliving the experience. It's called somatic experiencing, and it focuses on stress and trauma stored in the body, and giving a means for healing it. Personally I had a VERY traumatic experience when I almost died from a ruptured aneurysm. I definitely had PTSD from the experience. I went to a traditional therapist for 6 months, but it didn't help at all. I went to a woman who does somatic experiencing, and within 3 sessions I noticed the fear and anxiety subsiding, and after 10 sessions significant reduction.

Here's the site of the man who created this therapy: http://www.traumahealing.com/

The woman I saw here in Los Angeles is Sara Pettitt###-###-####). Somatic experiencing is not traditional talk therapy. It's about getting in touch with the body, and teaching the body how to get out of the fright or flight mode it is frozen in. Sara is very good with kids. I've brought both my kids to her.

Best of luck,
B.

Good Morning A.,

I don't know your religion but if you like authors like Wayne Dyer and Louise Hay, Agape International Spiritual Center does have counseling on a sliding scale. It is metaphysical, non-religious.

Be Well.
