Looking for Preschool

I just recently moved to Olathe and I'm looking for a preschool. My daughter is 3-1/2, will be 4 in December. She went to a preschool last year 2 days a week from 8:25-11:15 AM, and I'm looking for something similar that doesn't cost an insane amount of money. I'm not looking for daycare, at least not right now. Does anybody know of any good preschools? Thanks.

What can I do next?

If it's not too far, United Methodist in downtown Lenexa has a great reputation. It's accredited and has a hands on play philosophy.

My daughter goes to a great Montessori school run out of the teacher's home. She is great with kids and I felt that my daughter made huge strides in her learning. The teacher's name is Joyce Alderman. Your daughter would go three days a week for 2hr and 45min each time and the cost is $130.00 a month. Or she might go twice a week which I think is for the first year students and that is only $90 a month. I loved the Montessori method which is more child centered and less teacher centered. There is a lot of structure however and the kids learn to play with one thing at a time and pick up after themselves. And every game is teaching them something.

Our church has a good preschool. I am not for sure about age requirements or any other details but you could give them a call. We also have a Kids Day Out program which is Tuesdays and/or Thursdays 9:00-2:30. Preschool is MWF. The church is Grace United Methodist on 115th and Ridgeview. ###-###-####

I am the teacher of the 3's class at Beautiful Savior Preschool, which is located at 13145 Black Bob (catty corner from the Indian Creek Library). I have my degree in Elementary Education, but have been teaching 3's for 7 years now. I have openings in my afternoon class, which is from 12:30 to 3:00 on Mondays and Wednesdays. We cap the class the at 10 students. The cost is $95 a month.

Our day is very routine and consists of: Table Time, Circle Time, Center Time/Small Group Activity Time, Snack, and Gross Motor Time (usually outside play). On Monday's the children go to music and on Wednesday we have a non-demonitional chapel time.

Parents are always happy to have had their children in my class. They feel that I promote a love of learning and am a great way to start their children off down the educational path. I can provide parent emails or phone numbers if you would be interested in contacting them for references.

I will be at the school today (Friday) from 8:30 to 11:30 getting the room prepared for the first day. Please stop by if you are interested!

I know KidPark at 119th and Strang Line has an NAEYC accredited program (or they are in the process of getting accredited) if you want a non-religious preschool.

My son has been there as a drop-off when my SO and I were going out and they were fantastic with him, and he's very high needs.

Heritage United Methodist church at Quivera and 124th(?) really taught my son a lot. He was always very happy there. He is in 4th grade now so I am not sure how much it costs.

Hi A., You should check into KidsPark on 119th and Strangline. It is too far for us to drive, but it is so flexible, and I felt the prices were very reasonable. They are an hourly, drop-in childcare center, but I have heard they have a very strong preschool program.

My son went to Montessori Home Preschool with Brenda Schoen in Olathe. She is absolutely fabulous! We have had my daughter signed up to attend preschool there since she was born, just to make sure that there was a spot for her. Brenda runs the preschool out of her home, and she has an entire room devoted to her preschool classroom. She has aligned her curriculum with the Olathe School District to prepare her students for kindergarten, and she works with each child at an appropriate level. My son was reading before kindergarten! I am an elementary teacher, and I would say that my son definitely benefited from Brenda. She does morning preschool, or you could also pay extra and have your child stay the whole day for daycare. I believe that she has a website, or she is also listed in the phonebook. Good luck!
