Hi. I'm a stay at home mom of two little girls;my baby is 8 moths and my oldest is three. I think it's time for her to go to daycare, but I don't know the first thing about choosing one for her. We're originally from NY, and we've lived here in Fl for one year now. I still don't know much about the area, because I've been home all day with the girls. I would love some advice on a daycare that teaches toddlers and is loving and caring, also. I'd like to return to work part time and I want her to be safe and happy in school.

What can I do next?

Hi, i'm sorry I can't recommend a good daycare but I wanted to offer some advice. I think at 3 your daughter is ready for pre-school. Most "daycare" centers do not provide a lot of the educational stimuli that your daughter needs at this age. They literally provide "care" with basic abc's etc. I love the Montessori curriculum and I know there are several good schools in Palm Bay/W. Melbourne area. There are places that offer daycare for your youngest and education for your older daughter too. Let us know what you find. Good Luck!

I have my children (2 and a half year olds) in Jelly Bean Junction, and I like it there. It's in W Melbourne near Dustin's BBQ.

I am from NJ and have been down here about 2 years. I never had a problem find a daycare up in NJ but when i moved down here. I found some of the most disgusting daycares I have ever seen. I know they are opening a new one in palm bay in about a month. The owner used to be the director at my oldest daughters school for before/after care. I would look into this one, wouldn't hurt. I know pineapple cove is supposed to be very nice, it was just out of my price range.

I just registered my son at A Step Above Academy. It's next to Blockbuster on the corner of Palm Bay Rd and Babcock St. Their grand opening is Sept. 5 so they are still excepting all ages. We're coming from another daycare in Melbourne and compared to this new one, it was a dump.

This new one has open classrooms where the kids rotate through-out the day. It has a computer room and they are having dance and karate classes. The staff is really nice and the director is willing to work with my odd schedule. I can't say if it's a great place yet, but I've got a good feeling about it.

Good luck with your search.
