I'm expecting my first child and am on the search for a great day care center. Also, any advice that you would have as far as what to look for or great questions to ask would be most appreciated.

Just wanted to let you know that I found out you can check on a center that is state licensed at the state of MI website. mi.gov I would check any that you are interested in. It lists any violations or complaints that have been filed. I found this helpful in my final decision, hope this helps! If you have any questions you can always email me.

The state of Mi website has online the investigations and licensing information for all daycares- start there. Visit a few times before selecting and do NOT call before you go. Follow your instincts once you enroll. I tried 2 places before I found the one my son is in now (and we love it-- Kindercare).

Hi A.,
I have 2 kids, boy 4 1/2 & girl almost 1 year and they both go to Sunny Skies in Huntington Woods (I think there's a Clawson location too). It's a brand new building and my kids really seem to like it there. The caregivers are all wonderful and I have peace of mind knowing that they are well cared for. I think there's a waiting list for infants, so you'd have to check into it pretty early. A good daycare is hard to find, but referrals definately help. Good Luck!

Ask if they are CPR certified. How often the kids go outside. Do they have a regular schedule each day and a regular care giver. Song, dance, story time, etc.

Hi A.!
I haven't had to put my child in daycare, but I have a good friend who went through many daycares before finding the ideal one. And here are some of the things that she loves about her daycare (it's in Grand Blanc area or I would mention the name)...
Her daycare gives her a daily report on her son. Things that he does or doesn't do, if he's potty trained if he's had any accidents that sort of thing. It really helps her to know the things she needs to pay attention to when at home with him.
Also, her daycare has a camera in each area of the daycare, it's seperated by different ages and you can log on to the internet and check on your child at any time. This gives her peace of mind and also she can see if her son is being neglected in any way. I also think that is a must in daycare. If I had to put my son in daycare that would be the tops on my list.
I wish you luck! When is your baby due? I'm also expecting (#2) in June!
