We are looking for a Church Home in Arlington. My husband was raised Baptist, so that is were his heart wants to stay, I am fine with that. Once we were married, I to was baptized in the Baptist Faith, I however was brought up in the Episcopal Church. Worship is worship, as long as it is to the same God. We have visited some churches here in town, I am not going to state which ones since I do not want to offend anyone who may be associated with them. We are looking for somewhere warm and welcoming. We want somethihng with a strong childrens ministry, our son loves to worship and participate in service, a childrens choir would be a plus as well. We have considered looking in the the Cowboy Church of Ellis County, which I found out about on mommasource, but we would not be able to make it except on Sundays due to the distance. We are willing to travel maybe to Mansfield, HEB, & Grand Prairie areas. We are not looking for a MEGACHURCH. Thanks for your advice.

What can I do next?

Fielder Road Baptist Church in central Arlington, and Panego Bible Church near 30 and East Chase Prkwy...they are both excellent churches that have great kids programming. However, they are large churches...as smaller church that is good in South Arlington was Rush Creek Baptist, but I think the name of it is now, The Church on Rush Creek. Also, I have a couple friends that really like Park Springs Baptist. I do not know about the kids programming at the last two churches I mentioned though.

I go to Fielder Road, I'm not sure if I would consider it a megachurch, however it is big. But it is the most loving church. My employee goes there, and he has not accepted Christ yet, and was not a church goer (I met him through Fielder, which they helped him find a job, which is how we met), and he said the only way to describe Fielder is it's like visiting family every Sunday and they are non judgemental. If you get involved in Sunday School, it will feel much smaller. The children's ministry is second to none, and church's from all around have come to our church to try to mirror image what we are doing. If you decide to go, email me and I can meet you and show you around and maybe you can come to class with me. We go to 9:30 Sunday School, and 11:15 worship which is contemporary, blue jeans, type service.

I'll recommend First Baptist of Euless, just off of 183 and 157. I don't think it qualifies as a megachurch, but it is big enough to have a huge children's department, with tons of activities like choir, Awana, and even martial arts classes. I don't actually go there myself (I'm Methodist), but I do attend MOPS there, and I have several friends who go there. They all rave about the pastor and the activities. You might check it out online www.firsteuless.com. Good luck to you!

Community churches run along the lines of Baptist churches with the exception of the traditional music. They are Bible based. There are several in Arlington, my husband and I attend Eden Road Community Church on Matlock. It is a fairly small church and strong in community.

Comes to the family check in on Sunday and we will get you involved. I work there from 9:15 till 11:00. Please ask for J.. Would love to see you.

If this isn't the place for you, I certainly hope you find the home you are looking for.

My husband was born and raised Baptist and I am nondenominational. Anyways we go to Calvary Church in Irving which is right off of Walnut Hill and 161. He wouldn't go for the longest but he goes now and loves it. I know you mentioned it being Baptist but this church is nondenominational and its wonderful. They have classes for the children and they have things throughout the week. Well, I hope you find you a church for you and your family.

My husband and I met at First United Methodist Church in Arlington and are very involved there now. I realize you're looking probably for a Baptist church, so this may not be for you. We have phenomenal children's and youth programs, including Sensational Journey throughout the year, VBS, Music Camp, Mission trips, children's choirs, youth choirs (that travel each summer), etc.

My husband and I are also involved in a very caring, wonderful Sunday School class where we are studing the Bible - working our way through the entire thing, week by week. Our class is called the Discoverers and meets at 9:30 am in room 152, if you're interested. I agree with you that denomination is very secondary - what matters is worshipping the Lord in a fellowship of believers!

I noticed that you grew up Episcopalian & your husband Baptist and so I thought I'd mention it. We have a lot of "mixed denomination" couples there - I guess the Methodist church has been a good place for Catholics and Episcopalians to find a church home with their Southern Baptist spouses!

God bless you in this important search for your family!

Hi! I live in Hurst and love my church. I am a member of Shady Oaks Baptist Church. They have a traditional service and a contemporary service as well. The members are very warm and there is a family feel when you walk in. You mentioned children's ministry. Shady Oaks has a fabulous ministry. The children start out in the beginning of the service and then the "Tree House" slide pops up on the screen and all the children get up and go to their designated rooms. I hope you give Shady Oaks a try. Our pastor is funny and upbeat. The contemporary service has a band and they play many of the songs you hear on KLTY. Our pastor's message is always wonderful and uplifting. Shady Oaks is located on Cavender St. Coming from Arlington take 183 West. Exit Norwood and turn left. Take a right on Bedford Euless Rd. Then a right on Cavender. You can see the white cross once you are on Bedford Euless Rd.

Hi M.,

I was just looking around on this site and saw your request. I don't know if you have found a church home yet or not. I see that you posted your request 3 months ago. I attend Pleasantview Baptist Church in Arlington at I-20 and Kelly Elliott. I love it so much. My daughter is 11 and loves all the activities they have for her. They have just finished up a program on Sunday nights called Word of Life which she truly enjoyed. They are now starting up something new on Wednesday nights for the children. I believe it is arts, music and a few other things. Since its just getting started I don't know a lot about it yet but I'm sure the kids will enjoy it. My Pastor and his wife are wonderful people and we are truly blessed to have them. Please come visit us if you haven't found what your looking for. God Bless!

I highly recommend First Baptist in Mansfield. My son is also 5 and I wanted a church with many activities for him as well as ones where my husband and I could connect. We definitely found it there. We were going to Fielder Road in Arlington but it was just way too big and I felt like we couldn't get really connected. So we started searching and found FBM. The men's ministry is great and I think that's so important because if your husband's faith is strong, it will carry your family through in many cases. They have just started building a new children's building which will be awesome. Life Groups meet at 9 and the service starts at 10:30. We also have church on Sunday night and Wednesday night. Hope you'll give it a try.

M.,

I go to Mayfield Road Baptist Church and have for the last 21 years. I have four kids, the oldest is 21 and the youngest is 6. They love the children's programs. My 8 year old son enjoys children's choir and RA's (missions) on Wednesday nights. During the summer they have some great activities like VBS, Summer Music Day Camp, a Summer Wednesday Night program that is like VBS and usually a back to school splash party (sprinklers and small pools and water fun). My youger daughter enjoys all of that too but she is not in RA's but GA's (for girls, lol). It is not a mega church (by far).

Hope this helps.

They have a huge emphasis on family and worship and a very special children's organization called Primary that has wonderful classes and singing. You can find out more about the basic beliefs here:

Hello, M.,
Celebration Fellowship in Fort Worth, not far from Arlington, is a great church. It is a Baptist church with great worship and atmosphere. It is a medium sized church and very casual. We are currently building a 29,000 square foot, state-of-the-art children's building. But, most of all, people are there for you and your family. Let me know if you have any questions.

You are welcome to attend our church...we would love to have you! We aren't baptists; we are Nazarene. A slight doctrinal difference, but a bible believing church that preaches holiness living through the power of the Holy Spirit. We don't have a kids choir, but we offer a great summer program called Camp MAD (Music & Drama) and a Christmas program for the kids. Also, there is kids talent competition in the spring that is a district wide event.

I sing in the adult choir and there are Sunday School and Wednesday & Sunday night classes - by topic.

Please join us for a 10:30 worship service and Sunday School at 9:15. Arlington First Nazarene is located at the NE corner of Pioneer Parkway & W. Green Oaks Blvd. (We moved about 20 months ago from across from Fielder Rd. Baptist.)

My name is M. and you can reply back to ask any questions. ____@____.com just to be sure! M.

I'm not certain how much of a drive you're willing to take, but we go to Milestone Church in Keller. It's not the huge Megachurch, but we are growing. It's still a church where you know the people you see if that makes sense. You can check it out at www.milestonechurch.com He's about to start a series on families beginning this weekend.

We go to Fellowship of Joy in Grand Prairie. We were originally a nondenominational church but have recently become affiliated with Assemblies of God. Our pastor was raised Southern Baptist & was in that denomination for many years as well as attended a Baptist seminary; so his background is Baptist.
Honestly I have never felt so connected or so welcome as I have at FOJ. We have a great kids ministry. We don't have a kids choir right now but they do a lot of skits & many times do songs for the whole church as a group. We would love to have you join us & see if this is the place for you. We have two services on Sunday: 9:00 & 10:45. We are located on Pioneer Parkway in Grand Prairie (just east of Carrier). The website is: fellowshipofjoy.com.
Hope you come check us out & please feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

Hi, M.,
I would like to invite you to visit our church The Church on Rush Creek in South Arlington at the corner of Bowen and S. Green Oaks Blvd (not to be confused with Rush Creek Church at the opposite corner). It is a very friendly church and I think we have an excellent children's ministry. I am a Sunday School teacher there and it is a blast! We have great music and our pastors are great. Good sermans, too! We are a Baptist church, but in a contemporary sense, not old-fashioned by any means. Check us out on the web at www.RushCreek.org I'd be happy to answer any questions I can about our church. I have been a member there 11 years. God will show you which church is right for you and your family.
