Looking for Anyone Who Has Had This Done

Hey, sorry to hear that you went through that. I hope that was the last time that guy ever put his hands on anyone. Dental implants are expensive . and it depends on where the missing tooth is Whether or not you will wear a bridge. First, they will drill a small hole into the jaw where the tooth used to be , then they will place an anchor screw in the hole and s t i tch it back up. The reason is that the bone has to attatch (heal around) the screw. Once the bone has healed , they will make a small incision and just screw the new tooth on. Honestly, the process is long and can be quite painful. However the results are beautiful. I don't think I would get an implant for just one tooth though. Good luck.

A good friend of mine had a partial put in at 16 he got hit in the face by a baseball that knocked out 3 of his front teeth. If he had not taken them out none of us would have known. He was able to eat and talk normaly and it did not seem to bother him at all.

I had my front tooth knocked out when I was in a car accident about 10 years ago. At the time, I got a "flipper", and a year ago I got a partial. I dislike both of them because I cannot eat wearing it and I think I sound funny. Most of the time, I just do without. What about a root canal now? I had one done, and while I was uncomfortable, it saved my other front tooth.

I am sorry you went through that. I am 35 and have been missing my tooth for 13 years.

I just turned 30 a few days ago. When I was in elementry school, we were playing red-rover and I broke my front tooth. The dentist had to pull my tooth and put in a tempory replacement. That stayed in for a couple of years at a time but it kept having to get replaced because it would fall out- it was only temporary. Finally I had a permanent tooth put in. I had good insurance but it was still around $500. It was very painful because I didn't get enough anastasia but it was well worth it. I had a very good dentist and he matched the replacement tooth to my other teeth. I have not had any problems since. Talk to your dentist about this procedure. It is well worth it.

Okay I have had that done. I had one tooth that detiraated and had it pulled. I got a partial made and it hooked on to my back teeth yes it is depressing because i was so young(i was 25 at the time)but noone could tell it was fake because they match it to your other teeth. My tooth problem arrived after i got pregnant. Every time i got pregnant they got worse. So now i have more than just a 1 tooth partial Dental implants was not an option due to money and insurance. I still have low self-esteem because of it But i feel so much better that i can eat what i want again that i couldn't before because my teeth would crumble. The good out weighs the bad.IMO But the great thing is noone knows to this day about them except my Family and my best friend and my family was so supportive about it. I gain a little more confidence every day

I had a root canal on a tooth and then, the tooth broke and had to be cut out. Because of the way it was extracted, I am not a good candidate for an implant even if I wanted to pay the $2,000+ for it. I went last week for a second opinion with a dentist who spent a lot of time explaining all of my options and which would work and which wouldn't. Next week, we will move forward with a 3 tooth bridge (2 crowns plus one fake tooth that are attach and supported byt he 2 teeth beside it). It's much more common than you think...even at your age!

First of all let me tell you it is not an easy decision to make to have teeth pulled! Let me tell you my story so that you can understand a little about what I am saying.

I am 29 years old. When I was married to my first husband, he took me to a dentist that someone had recommended for me. This dentist scraped my teeth and did not polish them, so from that point on they started to deteriorate and fall apart. I was 20 at the time and did not know any better, so I just let it go. After about 5 years, you started to see the damage. By this point it was to late to save my teeth because they were basically rotting from the inside. Due to lack of money and insurance, I let them go until finally some of them were breaking when I ate. My mom finally said (after 2 years of missing a tooth in the front) that she would pay to have them pulled and pay for a partial since most of the damage was to my front teeth. I put it off and put it off, for fear of pain and embarassment from people knowing that I had fake teeth.

This past Monday, I went in and had them pulled (another nightmare and story in itself but that is not the issue here) and a partial plate put in.

I guess I like that I can smile now and noone can see the damage that was done, but I am still adjusting to the fact that I have no front teeth of my own now. Implants were not an option for me because of the money it would have taken for 5 teeth. So, my decision was based on money and the fact that I would not be in pain from my teeth anymore.

It was not easy to do and I still get depressed about it everytime I try to eat something that I have to bite into but like I said I am still adjusting to it. I guess when I get used to it and they get the adjustment right it will be ok.

I wish I had more information on the procedure that you are thinking about having done, but at this point I don't. All I can really say is that you will feel better about it when it is all done and over with, and know that you are not the only one out there that has had to think about it.

I work in a dental office and there are several options you have besides a removable partial ( you take this out every night ). You could do a bridge or an implant. The doctors I work for are great. The number to the office is ###-###-####. It is in the simpsonville area. Good luck.

there are so many different ways that dentist have to well( fill in the hole ) that the prices change, trust me you just want to make sure that it all looks natural, you wouldnt believe how many paople have fake or false teeth or tooth. just ask your dentist bout what kinds of choice he dose and go for a second opionion , hope this helped a little .

I have had freinds who have had this done - but it does take a while for the implant to heal before they can put on the false tooth. It also depends on your bone structure (if there is enough bone for the implant to securley attach).

Can you have a bridge? I have a bridge which is a fake tooth that is attached to the two side teeth. It never comes out, feels the same and looks great. Flossing takes an extra 20 seconds or so. I have a bridge where a molar was removed and never have had a problem;. This was done 15 years ago.

I had dental implants for two teeth on the top (the ones on either side of my front teeth) about 12 years ago, when i was a teenager. They are expensive, and dental insurance does not cover them as far as i know. However, they are much more permanent than any other solution, and there'e a good chance you'll never have to have work done on them again if you take good care of them. When i had mine done, there were three different procedures. With the first one, they had to make incisions in my gums and insert steel posts into my jawbone. That took about 6 months to heal before they began fitting me for the porcelain crowns, because the bone has to naturally graft to the steel posts. Occasionally the bone rejects the foreign material and it doesn't work. But if all goes well, the crowns get put on in the months following. It does take 9 months to a year to complete the entire process. Good luck making your decision!

I know someone who is having all his teeth replaced due to gum disease, and he is 40. But because he is young he doesn't want to look like he has dentures in. He did have to wear the temporaries for @ 6 mos (I think) before having the permanent ones put in.

I think it is really up to you as to how you want to appear. I see nothing wrong with having a false tooth, especially since it is only one. I think since you are so young, it would be better to pay the extra to get something that stays in and doesn't look out of place. GL.
