I canceled my gym membership and am looking for a good at home DVD. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Trying to lose that baby weight.

If you have the Lifetime channel, Denise Austin comes on every morning at 6 and 6:30. I used to record both programs and do it later in the day. She will focus on different body parts and incorporate yoga and pilates along with aerobics.

Good luck!

Tae Boe is the best workout video I have ever used. It is the ONLY one that ever made me lose weight. The best thing is that the one I like the best was only 20 minutes..usually I would say that is not enough time but for some reason it worked for me. I did more when I could but those days that you feel really lazy or just dont have time, 20 minutes is better than nothing.

My sister is an afficionado when it comes to these home workout DVD's. She says that all the "Cathe" videos are by the best. I'm sure if you google her, you'll find her website. She has many, many types of videos that she offers. and, according to my sister, all the health/workout chat rooms recommend her. I've personally done many of her videos and really enjoyed them. good luck and keep it up!

Hi J.,

There are so many workout videos out there. It will depend on what it is you prefer to do and at what level. If you've just had a baby, you should take it slow. Perhaps start with yoga and walking. Once you get into a more advance workout, try Billy's Bootcamp. It can be purchased at Linens' N Things.

Good luck!

Hi J.! I am an avid fan of Tae Bo! It is suprisingly lots of fun. I've been working out with the Basic video for two or three days a week for a couple weeks now and have lost 7 lbs. Good luck! Also, about your cancelation of the gym membership. Make sure you really did cancel it cause they will hunt you down and then turn it over to collection if you dont pay up (speaking from experience unfortunately).

What a great post!! I can't wait to hear what other ladies have to say. With a husband who travels, working full time, and limited time already with my children a gym membership was out of the question. So I bought Billy Blanks Tae Bo workout and I love it! It does work! It has different levels and it's high energy. I know he has all kinds of products out there. You could look on his website or even check ebay.

I hope you find what you are looking for :)

I have been also working out at home sionce giving up 2 gym memberships since my kids refused to go into the kids areas. I have been using the Excercise portion of On-Demand offered through Comcast which is now Road Runner. They are very good and you can stop and start when you need to. There are several other moms using this as an excercise option for the same reasons. I hope this helps.

www.collagevideo.com is a great place to look. They have reviews of all the workout videos ever made. They also break down each program by number of minutes dedicated to warm-up, aerobics, resistance training, stretching etc. You can do specific searches for different types of videos or speciality videos such as pregnancy or pilates. They also review all of the instructors and each of their videos. I do agree with the other post that Cathe is really good. She has great queing. Good luck!

I got a 10 boot camp DVD at Sams last week. I love it. I chose which exercises I want to do. It is called "10 minute solution, Kickbox Bootcamp. I like it alot and it kept my heart rate up to burn the most calories. I got bored with my elliptical everyday, so I am adding to my DVD workout also. I'd love the suggestions too.

J., I am THRILLED to be able to recommend Leslie Sansone's walk aerobic tapes to you. I can not say enough about her style of excercise and her wonderful presentation in each video of hers I have (I have about 12-15 of them). You can purchase her videos at Walmart if you want them quick or you can type in her name on Ebay to get some super good deals on her older and most recent videos. Check out her website at walkaerobics.com if you would like to see a sample video of some of her routines. I "work out with her" six days a week and have lost 37 lbs. since Sept. along with WW to help manage my food. If you would like to hear more about her and what her videos consist of, I'd be happy to tell you more. Everyone I know who has owned one of her videos has really enjoyed her.

J.,

I strongly recommend Windsor Pilates. There's a 20 minute workout that gives great results. Also, I live by "Great Body Guaranteed." You can get it at beachbody.com. The dvd has 5 different workouts, none longer than 12 minutes, and they work so well. I love the 7 minute abs. Anyway, if you need any other info, let me know!

Hope that helps!

I also like the Leslie Sansone walk away the pounds DVD. Although, it is low impact for someone who is normally moderately athletic. I like her DVD during pregnancy and nursing. But, if you want to start slow it would be good. You could also add a step to her routine...although it might be easier to get a step tape and start without the step. I have also heard good things about Carmen Electra's workout video.

Denise Austin is pretty good, as long as you can stand her chipper personality. If you have cable or satellite tv, you can catch Denise Austin on Lifetime at 6am, then there is My Workout at 6:30am. There is also FitTV which has some pretty good programs. The workouts and personalities differ, so you should watch a couple of them to figure out what you like.
Good luck!

The Firm DVD's are great because they incorporate weights and step aerobics. They are a little expensive, but I think they're worth it.....
