Has anyone bought one of these low loft beds with a slide for a young child (ours are 5 and almost 3)? Do you feel they are safe? Any problems I should consider? Thanks!

What can I do next?

My grandchildren had bunk beds with a slide at that age and they loved it. It was safe. No minor accidents even. The bunk on top had a railing except for where the ladder attached which prevented rolling off the bed.

They are now 7 and 10 and no longer use the slide but still use the bed.

is that like a "daybed"....(its two twin beds, one slides under the other to make a twin sized sideways bed)....im about to get that for my 2 year old, but shes been climbing off of my 3 ft high raised king bed since before the age of one, im not very traditional with sleeping though.

Is that the Flexa bed?

My friends' have that... and about the same age as your kids. Their kids love it.
But yes, think about safety.

The slide is too cool.

We had a 4' tall bunk for my son for nearly a year because it was what fit with a ladder). Nighttime potty training was interesting (but doable). We never had an accident (fall wise), though of course it's possible.

To know: projectile stomach flu in the middle of the night WILL make it down to the bottom bed from the top. So make double sure you have h20 proof covers on both mattresses.

Oh sweet, better then them jumping off, which is what we caught our two 5 and 3 doing. We no longer have the beds set up as bunks...lol but I think the slides would be good can't foresee anything being bad with that they still might jump off though.

We have a Matrix low loft bed with slide and it's been a bit hit with my 3 and 5 year-olds and their friends. It can be a pain to change the sheets, but other than that, no problems.

Oh, I found the cutest one about a month ago...I want to get it for my boys (they are almost 7and 5) and think they might be old enough to not seriously harm themselves on it now!

My sister and I found a great one, on sale even, when they were 5 and 3 but I just pictured them jumping off every part there was to jump off of...and it was too scary an idea for me! But I'm a worry-wort with seriously rambunctious boys!

The one I found has a slide from the top bunk to the floor and the other side has steps up as well that double as drawers and then 2 desk type sections on the bottom part...the top bunk goes one way and the bottom bed goes a different direction...oh man, is it cute!

We bought a loft bed for our 5 year old. The only issue we ran in to was that once the mattress was in, the bed rails did not provide much protection. Only a few inches higher than the mattress. My husband drilled new holes into the fram and lowered the entire top bed frame. It's fine now, but something to think about. Maybe measure the thickness of the mattress you'll be using and compare it to the height of the side rails. Changing sheets is also a huge pain, but they're very cool otherwise! They save so much floor space, esp. in small spaces like ours :)
