Well we, actually it was hubby left the windows down in our van while we were at a friends house yesterday. It stinks now, any ideas on how to get the smell out.
We are also worried about some sensors that it might have destroyed.. they are like $500 to replace the sensors with the airbags I have been told.
It smells musty, it is still a bit damp I was thinking to use a wet dry cleaner... what have you mamas done before when this happened.

Thanks

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We didn't have to do anything but air it out for 1 night in the garage, I am shocked that it didn't smell after that. I am sure at some point or another it will happen again so I will keep this post.

Thanks ladies I would like to have some of these products on hand anyway though!

Don't know if this will work, but my first thought was baking soda (similar to the kitty litter). You might consider buying a big box (or two) and either

*sprinkle the seats and floors with it, letting it sit for a bit and then vacuum up

or

*pour into pans (like the kitty litter) and let it sit around for a few days

I know the smell and wish I had the wisdom I do now, back in the day. I "cleaned" out my old beater of a car when I was in high school with a garden hose!!! Did I say that I know the smell???? LOL!

Good luck!

Clean the carpets with a good carpet cleaner then use one of the products on the market that is made to remove odors. If you think it is mildewing then use some vineger in the carpet cleaner with the cleaner.

Years ago, we had a car flooded in a parking lot. (The water was up to the bottom of the seats.) The best thing we found to get rid of the smell was kitty litter. We used foil 9 x 13 pans and filled them with kitty litter and placed them on the floor. The kitty litter absorbed the odor.

good luck

No I've never left the windows done before during a storm! ROFLOL! You're not the only one!

There's a product called DampRid. It might take the extra moisture out of the carpet and help with the musty smell.

I'm not sure about the sensors...Good Luck
