Hi. My daughter has severe food allergies. We are new too the area and was wondering if anyone has a suggestion on a great allergist. Someone who is not in a hurry, knowledgable, and great with children. The rest of my family has all of the other allergies (indoor, outdoor). Also, does anyone know of any allergy support groups (for food allergies)? Thank you in advance!

We took our daughter to Dr. Leung, head of the pediatric allergy and immunology at National Jewish. He is so incredibly thorough and gets it done right the first time. There is also a playground of the floor of the building while you wait for your test results. I'd rake your kidlette there. You can call the lung line and they'll help you further 18002225864

Dr. Rumbyrt at Denver Allergy and Asthma, ###-###-####. His office specializes in adult and pediatric allergies and asthma.
I have been going to him for over ten years now! He is great with adults and kids and doesn't rush through anything. He takes his time with each and every patient.
A friend of mine just started taking her son there and they love him too! Hope this helps!

Hi S.,

I just send another mom this info. I have a friend who is a massage therapist but she also does Splankna Therapy. She can desesitize food allergies! She has used this on her own children as well as others I know of from our church. It'a amazing! I just wish the medical community would be more open to these sorts of things. They could change so many more lives! Here is her info.

We love Dr. Grant Olson at Colorado Asthma & Allergy. He started out as a pediatrician and clearly gets kids. :)

As for support groups, my very favorite is an online group on Yahoo groups called TerrificKidsWFA (WFA = with food allergies). OMG, I wouldn't have survived this journey without the people there (mostly moms but a few dads, too). They are so knowledgeable and I've learned so much. It is a VERY chatty group, so be ready for that if you join. (I actually keep a totally separate email account for my allergy stuff.)

There's also a local group here: http://www.mosaickids.org/index.php I've only been to one meeting so far but it was nice to connect with some local folks.

Best of luck to you!

We love David Fleischer over at National Jewish! He changed my son's life and has been a huge help with the other two kids, as well. He always comes over to say hi when were there with the other son even though our kids have been released from his personal care. He is just great! Really, though, anyone you see over there is. I have several friends who have been there for allergies and breathing, and we've seen several doctors between us all, and everyone I have talked to loves their doctor. All the staff is great. They have lots of fun stuff and volunteers who specialize in kids health care. I count myself incredibly blessed to be able to take my kids to such a great place. Well, considering they have to go anyway. GL! Welcome to Denver!
