Mamas & Papas-

Last night, for the first time ever, my boy shampooed his own hair in the shower without any coaxing, fighting, assistance, or tears. This has long been a challenge, and I am so glad to have it behind us.

Anyone care to rave about a recent kiddie accomplishment?

Best,
F. B.

Congrats!!!! My youngest is finally independent enough to go out and play with her siblings without me keeping her with me at all times. It has made a huge difference in my life this summer! Now I need to make her wash her hair all by herself! :) Thanks for inspiration!

That's awesome!! I remember loving when my kids got that skill down!! My daughter is almost good with drying her hair too - she is mixed and has my husband's hair, so it takes a round bruch and layering to do it right :).

Last night we were doing our household chores and my 7 year old asked me who was going to vacuum (since it was the week for my 11 year old to do it). I told him I was going to do it, no big deal. He then asked if we actually added steam mopping to the vaccuming chore, since it's only one room that gets vacuumed, and I said yes, but I would just do the kitchen. He asked me to do it himself! He got the steam mop out, put the water in, heated it up, and did a fabulous job! He was so proud of himself and so was I...awesome!

The best part, while he was mopping he decided since I was going to make him throw away his 3 foot tall box his new nerf gun came in and he didn't want to, he came up with a plan. He put holes in it, asked me to help him tie knots, and he made himself a backpack to carry his new nerf gun around :).

Great!! Good for you for celebrating this milestone!

I got a mother's day card from my grown son about what a great mom I am, listing the positive traits he got from me. It was so heartfelt. At the end, I read the line that said, "And now you are reaching for the tissues." I started to laugh through my tears, looked up, and he was sitting there passing me a box of tissues! So for those who think they won't survive the terrible twos or the teen years, there is hope!

I'll just join you in your rejoicing! It is so nice to see kids growing up, at least in terms of these things.

While we don't have any major accomplishments like that, I can say that our 12-year old is becoming less resistant to bathing. He still needs to be reminded sometimes, however he often does it when he gets up now without being reminded. Yay!

That is wonderful!

I went into the kitchen the other day and found my 14 year old sweeping the floor because he noticed crumbs. He never notices anything like that, so this was a big surprise. lol

I asked my almost five year old to take the trash bags (3) of them out to the trash can (just set beside them not inside) as he's our 'trash man' and he put all three in the trash can and then closed the garage door when he came back in. I was impressed!
